Sun Mar 11 201209:12Mets could trade D.J. Carrasco
Andy Martino of the New York Daily News reports that D.J. Carrasco is a candidate to be traded.
Carrasco, Bobby Parnell and Miguel Batista are competing for the final two spots in the Mets bullpen, but Parnell, according to one team official, "would really have to mess up" to not make the team, and Batista is viewed as the favorite over Carrasco. Slated to earn $1.2 million in 2012, Carrasco posted a 6.02 ERA last season and spent a good chunk of the year in the minors. Martino mentions the Marlins and Angels as potential landing spots for Carrasco, but it sounds like speculation at this point.

D.J. Carrasco said Monday that he would prefer to be a starting pitcher.
"I would love to start," said Carrasco. "I think I could offer the team some good quality innings as a starter. But it's whatever the team is going to need to make it to the postseason is what I'm here for. I want to be part of a winning team, so whatever it takes." Carrasco will be stretched out as a starting pitcher during spring training, but we don't expect this experiment to last very long. He'll likely be one of the key cogs setting up for Francisco Rodriguez.
