Diamondbacks sent 1B-OF David Winfree outright to Triple-A Reno.

It's a move to take him off the 40-man roster. Winfree is batting .265/.326/.386 with one homer for Reno this season.

Diamondbacks purchased the contract of 1B-OF David Winfree from Triple-A Reno.

The move adds Winfree to the 40-man roster, presumably in order to protect him from the Rule 5 draft this winter. Winfree, 26, batted .321/.389/.575 with nine homers and 37 RBI over 134 at-bats this season for Reno. He will compete for a bench job next spring but will likely wind up back at Triple-A.
