Conte tallied eight tackles (seven solo), a tackle for loss, a forced fumble and a pass defensed in Sunday's 37-23 loss to the Panthers.
Conte made a third consecutive start in place of Major Wright (abdomen), and amassed his highest tackle total to date in 2015. The fifth-year veteran was also involved in the game's most improbable play, jarring the ball loose from Jonathan Stewart and directly into the hands of Ed Dickson, who in turn ran 57 yards untouched into the end zone. Despite the disappointing first quarter of 2015 that the Bucs have endured, Conte has proven to be a pleasant surprise in the defensive backfield. Conte's playing time in Week 5 figures to once again be heavily dependent on Wright's status.
Sun Oct 4 201512:07Conte (hip) active for Sunday's game against Panthers
Conte (hip) is active for Sunday's game against the Panthers, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
With Major Wright (abdomen) out yet again, Conte will settle into the starting lineup at strong safety. In the first three contests, Conte has notched 17 tackles (15 solo), two tackles for loss, one interception, and one forced fumble.

Conte (hip) is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Panthers.
Fellow safety Major Wright (abdomen) is listed as questionable, but with Wright getting in a full practice Friday, Conte will likely be bumped back to a reserve role.
Thu Oct 1 201523:35Conte (hip) full participant in practice Thursday
Conte (hip) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Joe Kania of the Buccaneers official site reports.
Conte's unrestricted participation gives the Bucs' strong safety picture a bit more clarity heading into Week 4. Starter Major Wright turned in another limited practice himself Thursday, but in the event he is not deemed healthy enough to take the field or receive a starter's share of snaps, Conte would appear ready to step in for him for the third consecutive week.
Wed Sep 30 201523:07Conte (hip) limited participant in practice Wednesday
Conte (hip) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Joe Kania of the Buccaneers official site reports.
Conte has been filling in capably for Major Wright while he recovers from an abdomen injury, but is now hampered by his own ailment. With Wright also logging a limited practice Wednesday, the Bucs' strong safety picture for Week 4 will likely remain muddled until much closer to game time.

Conte totaled nine tackles (seven total) and one tackle for loss in Sunday's 19-9 loss to the Texans.
Conte made a second consecutive start in place of Major Wright, and once again was one of the team leaders in tackles. The veteran safety has put in two solid performances against the pass, with the Texans' biggest play through the air on Sunday covering only 29 yards. Conte also had an active day defending the run, as Alfred Blue frequently broke into the second and third levels of the Bucs defense on the way to a total of 139 yards on the ground. Wright's status for Week 4 remains uncertain, and will largely determine the extent of Conte's playing time in Tampa's home date against the Panthers.
Mon Sep 21 201520:39Conte started at strong safety in place of injured Major Wright ...
Conte started at strong safety in place of the injured Major Wright and recorded six tackles (all solo), one tackle for loss, one interception and one pass defensed in Sunday's 26-19 victory over the Saints.
The former Bears starter's insertion into the starting lineup was a seamless one, with Conte leading the Bucs in solo tackles Sunday and tying for the team lead in tackles overall. Conte's interception came on the Saints' opening drive of the second half, with the veteran picking off a Drew Brees throw over the deep middle intended for Brandin Cooks. While Conte is expected to revert to his role as second-string free safety once Wright is healthy enough to return, Sunday's performance demonstrated why Lovie Smith moved to sign his former starting safety in Chicago.
Thu Mar 12 201511:19The Buccaneers have signed Conte
The Buccaneers have signed Conte, the team's official site reports.
Conte, who started 52 games over his four years with the Bears, is thus reunited in Tampa Bay with his former coach, Lovie Smith. Conte is coming off a 2014 campaign in which he recorded 43 tackles and three picks in 12 games, with his addition to Bucs' safety mix designed to help offset the release of Dashon Goldson.

Conte (back) is out for Sunday's game against Minnesota.
With Conte out, Brock Vereen and Ryan Mundy should serve as the top safeties.
Thu Dec 25 201417:50Conte (back) didn't practice Thursday
Conte (back) didn't practice Thursday, Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Conte has been a DNP in back-to-back games due to a back injury, but even with a third one seemingly in the cards Sunday at Minnesota, the Bears have yet to rule him out. If he fails to make an appearance in Week 17, expect Brock Vereen to cover for him at free safety.
Fri Dec 19 201414:16Conte (back) ruled out for Sunday's game against Lions
Conte (back) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Lions, the Chicago Sun-Times' Adam Jahns reports.
Conte will miss a second consecutive game. Brock Vereen started in Conte's place last week and will likely do the same on Sunday.
Thu Dec 18 201415:21Conte (back) limited in Thursday's practice
Conte (back) was limited in Thursday's practice.
For a second day in a row, Conte's practice reps were capped, which isn't surprising after a DNP in Week 15. If he's able to take the field Sunday against the Lions, he'll likely slot into his typical spot at free safety.
Mon Dec 15 201419:16Conte (back) inactive for Monday's game against New Orleans
Conte (back) is inactive for Monday's game against New Orleans.
With Conte out, look for Brock Vereen to see added work in the Bears' secondary on Monday.
Sat Dec 13 201417:23Conte (back) doubtful for Monday's game against New Orleans
Conte (back) is doubtful for Monday's game against New Orleans.
Conte was unable to practice all week, so he's very likely to sit out. The Bears have already allowed 30 passing touchdowns this year, and Conte's absence doesn't figure to slow the bleeding.
Thu Dec 11 201419:47Conte (back) didn't practice Thursday
Conte (back) didn't practice Thursday, the Bears' official site reports.
Conte has been hindered the past two games by an eye and back injuries, the latter of which has lingered into the current week of prep. If he fails to achieve active status Monday against the Saints -- or is limited, at the very least -- Brock will be afforded another chance to produce (nine tackles during Conte's recent absences).
Fri Dec 5 201401:43Conte suffered back injury during Thursday's 41-28 loss to Cowbo...
Conte suffered back injury during Thursday's 41-28 loss to the Cowboys, ESPN Chicago's Jeff Dickerson reports.
Conte, who missed nearly all of last week's game with an eye injury, never returned to Thursday's contest after leaving, and he finished with just two tackles (one solo). He was caught napping on a touchdown to Cole Beasley, who slid behind Conte while the safety was looking at Tony Romo. Conte has three interceptions this season, but he doesn't have any other passes defensed, and only has 43 tackles (32 tackles). If Conte misses time beyond Thursday, Brock Vereen might emerge as an IDP option in deeper league.
Thu Dec 4 201419:14Conte (eye) listed as active Sunday against Cowboys
Conte (eye) is listed as active Sunday against the Cowboys, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Conte was removed from a Thanksgiving Day loss at Detroit with what was initially believed to be a concussion, but an eye injury was the true culprit. Brushing off the ailment, expect him to man his typical starting spot at free safety.

Conte (eye) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Cowboys, ESPN.com reports.
Conte practiced in a limited fashion both Tuesday and Wednesday, but the questionable designation suggests that those considering the safety in deeper IDP formats this week will need to verify his Week 14 status in advance of Thursday's kickoff.

Conte was forced out of Thursday's game against the Lions with an eye injury.
The report clarifies that Conte did not suffer a concussion on Thursday, but either way, he's done for the day after recording two tackles.
