Fri Nov 4 201108:48Craig Counsell won't retire
Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that Craig Counsell intends to continue his playing career in 2012.
Counsell this year had one of the worst seasons in recent memory, batting a hideous .178/.280/.223 while going through an 0-for-45 skid at one point. The 41-year-old at least offers some versatility, which might be enough for some team to bring him in for a bench role.

Thu Nov 11 201019:33Brewers 'making progress' with Counsell
Brewers GM Doug Melvin told Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that the club is "making progress" with free agent Craig Counsell.
Counsell turned 40 at the end of the 2010 regular season, but he's still a fairly productive offense player and his versatility on the infield is something the Brewers value highly. With few other teams in the hunt, if any, negotiations with the veteran should move pretty swiftly. He posted a .250/.322/.391 batting line, two homers and 21 RBI over 204 at-bats this past season.
