Huestis signed a four-year deal with the Thunder on Thursday, Shams Charania of RealGM reports.
Huestis was drafted by the Thunder with the 29th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. Instead of taking a guaranteed contract with the Thunder last season, he elected to spend a year with their affiliate in the D-League, where he played in 50 games and averaged 10.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists over 33 minutes per game. Huestis will now move up to the big league, where he'll serve as depth in the frontcourt behind the likes of Kevin Durant, Kyle Singler and Anthony Morrow. It's hard to see Huestis getting very many meaningful minutes during the upcoming season, so he likely won't have much of a fantasy impact. The first two years of his contract are guaranteed.

Huestis isn't participating in summer league due to a torn right pectoral muscle and is without a timetable to resume basketball activities, the Oklahoman reports
Huestis reportedly suffered the injury two months ago. During his rookie season, he played 44 games in the D-League and averaged 10.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game. While there's belief his pre-draft agreement with the Thunder was to play one year for their farm squad before joining the NBA, the team doesn't have enough roster spots to offer him a contract to fulfill that arrangement.

Huestis indicated that he's unsure whether he'll be with the Thunder next season, the Great Falls Tribune reports.
Huestis, who spent his entire rookie season in the D-League after being drafted 29th overall in 2014, averaged 10.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 50 games. In an interview with a local paper, Huestis said that he believes his season was a success, noting that he improved significantly as an outside shooter. However, he stated that he's unsure whether he'll be a part of Oklahoma City's roster next season, and it's possible he could end up back in the D-League. "I'm willing to do whatever it is they believe will be best for me," Huestis said. "There are a lot of paths to take to the NBA. If that was fine I'd be OK with it as long as I knew it would make me a better player." The Stanford product will spend the bulk of the offseason in Oklahoma City working out at the team's facility and familiarizing himself with new coach Billy Donovan.
Thu Sep 25 201413:26Huestis will report to D-League
Huestis will report to the D-League, rather than Oklahoma City's training camp, Anthony Slater of The Oklahoman reports.
As expected, the 29th overall pick in June's draft will be "stashed" in the D-League for at least one season. The strategy allows the Thunder to avoid paying him a guaranteed deal right away, as their roster is already full. Huestis will not receive the league-mandated rookie deal and will instead settle for a roughly $30,000, one-year contract. While it's a risk on Huestis' part, it plays to the advantage of the Thunder, who can now personally oversee his development with the recently established Oklahoma City Blue.
