F Tayshaun Prince went scoreless in five minutes off the bench on Monday. He mssed his only field-goal attempt. He didn't even get off the bench in the second half. It marked the sixth straight game that Prince has gone scoreless, and it is particularly troubling because the Timberwolves desperately need some production off the bench. The 14-year-veteran, who started 44 games earlier in the season, is now averaging just 3.0 points.

G Tayshaun Prince did not play for personal reasons. He was in Detroit on Wednesday night to attend the jersey retirement ceremony of his former Pistons teammate Chauncey Billups. Zach LaVine started in Prince's place.

Prince began the season in Memphis, where he played 26 games and made nine starts before being sent to Boston in the Jeff Green trade. Prince, who helped Detroit to a title in 2004, is somewhat of a shell of himself at age 35, but he was a solid outside threat off the bench, shooting 45 percent from three in the month of March. Prince enters the offseason an unrestricted free agent, and it's unclear what his future holds. He proved he can still provide shooting off the bench, but it seems unlikely he'd sign with a non-contending team this late in his career. Unless he opts for retirement, Prince will probably gauge interest this summer in hopes of signing on with a contender.

It sounds like Prince will be shut down for the final two games of the regular season, beginning with Monday's matchup against the Cavaliers. He doesn't appear to be dealing with an injury, so it's likely a move to get him some additional rest.

He's competent from beyond the arc (career 37 percent), but Prince isn't known as a gunner from deep, a trait that most wing players on the Pistons have.
