Tue Mar 10 201516:40Jake Locker: Set To Retire
Locker will retire from the NFL, Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports.
Locker, who the Titans made the No. 8 overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft, thus surprisingly calls it a career at the age of 26, after a four-year stint with Tennessee that was marked by several injuries, which hampered both his availability and production.
Mon Dec 15 201416:27Jake Locker: (Shoulder) Placed On IR
Locker (shoulder) was placed on injured reserve Monday, NFL.com's Kevin Patra reports.
Locker left Sunday's game with a left shoulder injury, and his season is over. Zach Mettenberger is also dealing with a shoulder injury, and it's not clear when he will be able to return. In the meantime, the Titans signed Jordan Palmer to serve as Charlie Whitehurst's backup for Week 15.
Sun Dec 14 201417:26Jake Locker: Exits Sunday's Game
Locker was forced from Sunday's game against the Jets with a left shoulder injury, Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports.
With Zach Mettenberger out, Locker's latest injury results in Charlie Whitehurst taking over at QB for the Titans on Sunday.
Fri Dec 12 201413:51Locker slated to start Sunday's game against Jets
With Zach Mettenberger ruled out, Locker is slated to start Sunday's game against the Jets.
While the Titans have yet to rule out Mettenberger beyond Week 15, we suspect that Locker is on track to start the team's final three games, assuming he remains healthy. This week, Locker will be working behind a shorthanded offensive line and with a banged-up wideout corps, though for those digging deep in Week 15, it's worth noting that the Jets have allowed 29 passing TDs to date. Only the Bears have allowed more.

Locker will start Sunday's game against the Jets if Zach Mettenberger (shoulder, doubtful) is unavailable.
Meanwhile, coach Ken Whisenhunt won't officially rule Mettenberger out for Sunday's game just yet, suggesting that the QB is week-to-week. At this stage though, the signs continue to point toward a scenario in which Locker likely ends up starting the Titans' final three game this season. We'll let you know if that assessment changes.

Locker, who came on in the fourth quarter for the injured Zach Mettenberger (shoulder), completed 9-of-11 passes for 81 yards and an interception during Sunday's 36-7 loss to the Giants.
That's now two weeks in a row that Locker has had to come on after Mettenberger was forced out with an injury, and it looks very possible that Locker could start in Week 15 against the Jets. It couldn't be a much better matchup for Locker, as the Jets have allowed the second-most passing touchdowns this season, including two (and 309 passing yards) to Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater on Sunday.

Locker, who came on in relief of Zach Mettenberger after he suffered a shoulder injury in the third quarter, completed 6-of-12 passes for 91 yards, with one touchdown and two interceptions Sunday against the Texans. Mettenberger said after the game that he suffered a Grade 1 AC joint sprain and expects to play in Week 14 against the Giants.
Despite Mettenberger's belief that he'll play next Sunday, the injury is to his throwing shoulder and he'll surely need to practice next week in order to play. If he's limited at all, Locker will be available against a Giants defense that is ranked in the bottom-10 against the pass this season.

Locker (thumb) is active for Sunday's game against the Texans as the backup behind Zach Mettenberger.
Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt has apparently seen enough of Locker to now give Mettenberger a try to see if he can help a 2-5 squad get going. As long as Mettenberger isn't a disaster, Locker's starting days could be over in Tennessee.

Locker (right thumb) was a full practice participant Friday and is probable for Sunday's game against the Texans, the Tennessean reports.
Assuming no setbacks with his thumb, Locker is thus in line to suit up Sunday and serve as Zach Mettenberger' backup.

Coach Ken Whisenhunt said Thursday that Locker (thumb) will serve as the Titans' No. 2 QB behind Zach Mettenbeger on Sunday against the Texans, Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports.
With Locker evidently healthy enough to suit up as the team's No. 2 quarterback this week, the move to Mettenbeger is thus being made in the hopes of sparking the 2-5 squad's offense. Per coach Ken Whisenhunt, Locker would have an opportunity to play if Mettenberger suffers an injury going forward, which implies that the QB switch is not viewed as a temporary one.
Wed Oct 22 201422:58Jake Locker: Will Likely Back Up In Week 8
Though Locker (thumb) practiced Wednesday, Zach Mettenberger is in line to start for the Titans in Sunday's game against the Texans, The Tennessean reports.
Locker seemed likely to start Sunday as long as he made it through practice this week without setback, but it appears the Titans want to give Mettenberger a chance to show what he can do. The Titans have not officially announced who will get the start Sunday, but expect them to provide further details sometime soon.
Wed Oct 22 201415:41Locker (thumb) will be listed as limited at Wednesday's practice
Locker (thumb) will be listed as limited at Wednesday's practice, Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports.
With neither Locker or Charlie Whitehurst available to speak with the media Wednesday, coach Ken Whisenhunt indicated that there should be more clarity with regard to the Titans' Week 8 QB situation on Thursday.

Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt said Locker (thumb) threw the ball well Tuesday and is improving, Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports.
Although he was inactive again Sunday, Locker was able to practice in a limited capacity leading up to Week 7, prompting Whisenhunt to say he expects the quarterback "to be able to go" this week against Houston. Whisenhunt then expressed a similar sentiment Monday, saying the Titans need a spark and that he hopes Locker will be able to play this Sunday, but the team will wait and see how he feels Wednesday before thinking about returning him to full practice.
Mon Oct 20 201416:59Locker (right thumb) slated to throw on Tuesday
Locker (right thumb) is slated to throw on Tuesday, Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports.
The Titans will then see how Locker responds on Wednesday, but the hope remains that the QB could be available for this coming Sunday's contest against the Texans.

Head coach Ken Whisenhunt expects Locker (thumb) "to be able to go next week," ESPN.com reports.
Whisenhunt cautioned that he'll have to observe Locker in practice this week before knowing for sure whether or not he'll be ready for Week 8 against the Texans.
Sun Oct 19 201411:37Locker (thumb) inactive for Sunday's game against Washington
Locker (thumb) is inactive for Sunday's game against Washington. Charlie Whitehurst will start for the Titans, with Zach Mettenberger serving as the backup.
Locker was limited in practice all week, and it became clear near the end of the week that Whitehurst was likely to get the start in this game. We'll track Locker's status closely leading up to next week's matchup with Houston.
Fri Oct 17 201414:22Although Locker (questionable
Although Locker (questionable, thumb) has not been ruled out of Sunday's game against Washington, all signs point to Charlie Whitehurst starting at quarterback, The Tennessean reports.
Locker was a limited participant in Friday's practice, but he spent most of the time watching as Whitehurst took the majority of the snaps. Coach Ken Whisenhunt said the team will not make a final decision on a quarterback until Sunday, though fantasy owners should probably go ahead and make alternate plans if you were hoping to start Locker this week. We should receive confirmation one way or another when the Titans release their inactive list before Sunday's game.

Locker (right thumb) was limited at Friday's practice and will be listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Washington, Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports.
Coach Ken Whisenhunt indicated after practice Friday that Locker is making progress, but Wyatt relays that Charlie Whitehurst saw the bulk of the work during the open portion of Friday's session, which suggests that there's a solid shot that he'll draw another start at QB in Locker's place for the Titans this weekend.
Thu Oct 16 201415:42Locker (right thumb) limited at Thursday's practice
Locker (right thumb) was limited at Thursday's practice, Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports.
Per John Glennon of the Tennessean, coach Ken Whisenhunt indicated that Locker is progressing, but Glennon also notes that Charlie Whitehurst took the bulk of the team's QB snaps during the open portion of Thursday's practice. At this stage, Locker's Week 7 status remains unclear, though hopefully what he is able to do at Friday's practice will add some clarity to the situation in advance of Sunday's game against Washington.
Wed Oct 15 201414:48Locker (right thumb) returned to practice on Wednesday
Locker (right thumb) returned to practice on Wednesday, Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports.
The report notes that during the media access portion of Wednesday's practice, Locker split QB reps with Charlie Whitehurst. While Locker expressed optimism with regard to his chances of playing Sunday against Washington, coach Ken Whisenhunt indicated that it's too early to say whether or not Locker, who was limited at practice Wednesday, will draw Sunday's starting assignment, noting that it remains to be seen how the QB responds to the work that he was able to put in.
