TORONTO (AP) — The Toronto Raptors have traded forward Bruno Caboclo to Sacramento for guard Malachi Richardson.Both players in the deal Thursday were former first-round picks.Toronto took Caboclo with the No. 20 selection in 2014 but he appeared in just 25 games for the Raptors.Richardson was the No. 22 pick by Charlotte in 2016 and dealt to the Kings. He averaged 3.5 points in 25 games this season, including four starts.

The Toronto Raptors assigned forward Bruno Caboclo and center Lucas Nogueira to Raptors 905 of the NBA Development League on Friday.Both players are expected to be in uniform Saturday night for the first game in Raptors 905 history when the team visits the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.Caboclo made his NBA season debut Wednesday at Philadelphia, going scoreless in one minute. He appeared in eight games with the Raptors last season, totaling 10 points, two rebounds and 23 minutes. He saw action in seven NBA D-League games in 2014-15 with Fort Wayne, averaging 3.4 points, 1.9 rebounds and 8.9 minutes. A native of Osasco, Brazil, he was selected 20th overall by Toronto in the 2014 NBA Draft.Nogueira has appeared in two games this season with the Raptors, recording three points, one block and one steal in five minutes. In six games with Toronto last season, he totaled six points, 11 rebounds and 23 minutes. He also played in four D-League games in 2014-15 with Fort Wayne, averaging 8.2 points, 10 rebounds and 20.1 minutes. A native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, he was selected 16th overall by Boston in the 2013 draft. Nogueira was acquired by Toronto in a trade on June 30, 2014. Both Caboclo and Nogueira will continue to be included on the Raptors' roster and will remain on the team's inactive list.

Caboclo had his team option for the 2016-17 season picked up on Tuesday, Marc J. Spears of Yahoo reports.

The option was for just over $1.5 million, so it's an affordable price to continue the development of the former first round pick. Caboclo played in just eight games during his rookie season, registering averages of 1.3 points, and 0.3 rebounds over three minutes per game. Caboclo also saw some time in the NBA D-League, posting averages of 3.4 points, 0.9 rebounds and 0.7 blocks over nine minutes per game. Considering his role likely won't be increasing much for 2015-16 season, continue to avoid him in most fantasy situations.

Caboclo finished the summer league season averaging 12.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.6 steals, and 2.0 three-pointers in 30 minutes per game.

Caboclo fired away every chance he could, including a 2-of-12 performance from downtown in the final of five games. He shot 35 percent from the field and made 10-of-19 free throws during the tournament, failing to record an assist until the final game. Caboclo is still a bit underdeveloped, and it's a good bet he'll spend most of the upcoming season in the D-League.

Caboclo added 20 pounds of muscle during the offseason, NBA.com reports.

The second-year forward turns 20 years old in September, and he spent most of his rookie season glued to the bench or in the D-League. Through two summer league contests, he's averaged 13.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.0 steals in 30 minutes per game while shooting 29 percent from the floor. He still hasn't recorded an assist or block, and while it's imperative he add weight to his frame, Caboclo isn't likely to have a dramatic impact this season.

Caboclo will play with the Raptors' Summer League team, TSN reports.

Caboclo didn't see much time as a rookie, playing in just eight games in the 2014-15 season. General manager Masai Ujiri drafted Caboclo with the 20th pick in last year's 2014 NBA Draft, and ESPN's Fran Fraschilla was quick to follow-up the drafting of Caboclo with the now-famous quote, saying the Brazil native was "two years away from being two years away." The 19-year-old small forward is being brought along slowly, and the Raptors plan to have him develop with their forthcoming D-League team next season, meaning, unless Caboclo shows tremendous growth over the offseason, he's unlikely to play a significant role for the Raptors next season.

The Raptors plan to develop Caboclo in the D-League, Ryan Wolstat of the Toronto Sun reports.

The Raptors are in the process of purchasing their own D-League team, and it could come as early as next season. If that's the case, Caboclo will likely spend plenty of time developing at the lower level, as he's considered a few years out from truly contributing on a nightly basis in the NBA. As a rookie this season, the fan-favorite appeared in only eight games, scoring 10 points in 23 total minutes.

Caboclo was recalled by the Raptors on Sunday.

Caboclo has bounced back and forth from the D-League and the NBA this season. One thing remains constant however, the rookie rarely sees time on the court with the Raptors. In fact, he's played a total of 16 minutes this season and remains insignificant across all formats besides keeper leagues.

Caboclo was reassigned to Fort Wayne of the D-League on Wednesday.

With the Raptors set to play four games in five nights, Caboclo would see limited practice time, so the team will send him back to Fort Wayne, where he'll play in two, possibly three, games before returning to the Raptors.

Caboclo has been called back up from Fort Wayne of the D-League, the Raptors' website announced.

He didn't see much of the court with the Mad Ants, averaging just 13.0 minutes over three games with 4.3 points and 2.7 boards, but that's still more playing time than Caboclo has seen all season with the Raptors. The rookie will continue his development in practice and on the bench.

Caboclo was assigned to Fort Wayne of the D-League on Thursday.

Caboclo is expected to play his first game with the D-League squad Saturday, but it's undetermined how long he may remain there. He'll remain on the Raptors' roster as a member of the inactive list until he's officially recalled. The Brazilian rookie has appeared in just three games for the Raptors this season.

Caboclo finally saw some action on Friday, playing the entire fourth quarter and scoring eight points (3-6 FG, 2-3 3P) with a rebound and a block during a huge win over the Bucks.

With the Raptors cruising to a 41-point win, the teenage rookie made his long-awaited NBA debut and flashed the array of skills that made him the surprise 20th overall pick in this year's draft. Caboclo looked a little lost on the defensive end and won't see any action this season when a game hangs in the balance, but dynasty league owners who took a chance on him have to like what they saw on Friday.
