Sat Aug 17 201321:06James Posey could join Celtics staff
James Posey is a candidate to join Brad Stevens' staff with the Celtics.
He played with the Celtics in 2007-08 during their championship run, but he's been out of the NBA since 2011. Posey wasn't much of a vocal leader in his 12-year career, so it's a little surprising to hear his name as an NBA assistant.

Tue Dec 20 201114:22Knicks no longer interested in Posey
Updating an item from earlier, it now looks like the Knicks are no longer interested in free agent G/F James Posey.
When asked about signing the veteran swing man on Tuesday, head coach Mike D'Antoni stated "I don't think we're pursuing that right now." Posey will look to latch on with a contender this season, and with the season starting soon, look for it to happen sooner rather than later.

Tue Dec 20 201107:21New York Knicks stil talking to James Posey
The Knicks are still in contact with veteran James Posey.
Posey was waived using the amnesty clause and is now an unrestricted free agent. The Celtics have no interest in bringing back the key reserve from the 2008 championship team, but the Knicks still like him to build depth on the roster. He should find a new home shortly, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see it be in New York.

Thu Dec 15 201118:53Posey clears waivers
An NBA executive has said that James Posey has gone through amnesty waivers unclaimed and is now free to sign with any team.
Posey has some big game experience and it's already been rumored that the Celtics are looking at Posey as possible insurance if Jeff Green's medical issues don't go away.

Mon Dec 12 201112:55Pacers use amnesty clause to waive Posey
The Pacers will use the amnesty provision on James Posey.
Posey had about $7 million remaining on the last season on his deal, but he'll now be waived. If unclaimed, the veteran will be an unrestricted free agent. He will have no fantasy value regardless of where he lands.

Sat Dec 10 201109:58Pacers tell James Posey to stay at home
The Pacers have informed James Posey not to report to training camp, as he's not part of their future plans.
Posey provides a good example of a bad, over-long contract, as he's still owed $7.6 million from the full-MLE deal the Hornets lavished on him in 2008. It does not sound like Indiana is buying him out, they're just shelving him.

Tue Feb 22 201110:44Pacers will not buy out James Posey
The Pacers will not buy out James Posey, according to SI's Chris Mannix.
Posey fits the profile of a glue guy and locker room asset on a contender, but the Pacers aren't going to pay him to leave. He has been a DNP-CD in seven straight games.

Tue Dec 21 201004:31Posey hits five treys vs. the Hornets
James Posey hit five 3-point buckets on Monday, scoring 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting (all threes) to go with four rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 19 minutes off the bench.
He got hot tonight, but has just four games scoring in double-digits this season. He would need a few injuries to matter in fantasy leagues once again.
Fri Nov 12 201022:51Posey blows up for 19 points, five treys
James Posey came off the Pacers bench on Friday and got hot, hitting 7-of-12 shots and five 3-pointers on his way to a season-high 19 points to go along with five rebounds.
He didn't even play in his last game, but got 27 minutes in his previous game and played 26 minutes tonight. It's probably time to put him on your radar, although we need to see him do this a few more times before recommending he be picked up. Paul George didn't play tonight due to a coaching decision.
Tue Oct 26 201009:34Posey to play backup PF
James Posey is expected to be Josh McRoberts' backup at power forward.
Tyler Hansbrough isn't ready to make a contribution yet after sitting out most of his rookie season. Posey isn't anywhere near a true "four," but his 3-point shooting means coach Jim O'Brien loves him. McRoberts is set for big minutes as a nice sleeper.

Wed Aug 11 201021:03Posey will not seek a buyout of his contract
James Posey's agent said Wednesday that he will not seek a buyout of his contract now that he has become a Pacer.
It's unclear what Indiana wants to do since his two-year, $13 million contract is prohibitive, and there's a crowd at the wing positions. They may try to trade him to a contender, or they could keep him around and ask him to play some PF with Tyler Hansbrough and Josh McRoberts being question marks.

Wed Aug 11 201015:10James Posey traded to Pacers on Wed.
James Posey was traded from the Hornets to the Pacers on Wednesday.
Posey's four-year, $25 million contract became a burden for New Orleans almost the minute he signed it, though the Hornets also took on Trevor Ariza's sizable deal in the process. He should fill a small role as a defensive specialist and perimeter shooter while Indy waits for his contract to expire in two years.
