McClendon was the only one of the group that had a real shot at a roster spot, but he got the boot despite going 3 2/3 scoreless in Cactus League action. He should get a shot at some point this season.

Rockies signed RHP Mike McClendon to a minor league contract.
The deal includes a spring training invite. McClendon, 27, posted a 6.43 ERA in nine appearances with the Brewers this past season and had a 4.19 ERA and 27/18 K/BB ratio over 43 innings at the Triple-A level. He'll likely function as organizational depth in 2013.

They'll all be on the bubble for a while, though, as the Brewers will have to add a fifth starter in mid-April, plus they could get Manny Parra and LaTroy Hawkins back around the same time. Kintzler is the fantasy sleeper in the group.

McClendon will take the place of the injured LaTroy Hawkins on the 25-man roster. The 25-year-old right-hander posted a 2.44 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in 22 starts and three relief appearances with the Sounds this season, averaging 7.2 K/9 and 2.3 BB/9. He'll likely stick in middle relief.
