The Toronto Raptors signed forward K.J. McDaniels to a contract, the team announced Tuesday.Terms of the deal were not disclosed by the club for McDaniels, who split last season between the Houston Rockets and Brooklyn Nets.McDaniels averaged 4.2 points and 1.7 rebounds in 49 games in 2016-17.A second-round selection by Philadelphia in the 2014 draft, McDaniels has averaged 5.3 points and 2.2 rebounds in 148 games with the 76ers, Rockets and Nets.

The Houston Rockets assigned guard/forward K.J. McDaniels to the team's D-League partner Rio Grande Valley.The 6-foot-6, 205-pound McDaniels was acquired from the Philadelphia 76ers in February. He appeared in 10 games last season and averaged 0.7 points and 0.3 rebounds in three games this season.

McDaniels (wrist) scored eight points (2-7 FG, 4-4 FT), pulled down five boards, and collected a steal and assist in 12 minutes during Tuesday's preseason loss to the Grizzlies.

The wrist injury shelved McDaniels for the entire postseason, but the second-year swingman looked plenty healthy Tuesday night, turning in a well-rounded stat line in limited action. During his rookie season, McDaniels was a sneaky source of steals and blocks while he saw regular time with the 76ers, but upon being dealt to the Rockets, his minutes dried up. The Rockets' deep roster may again undermine McDaniels' effort to reemerge as an interesting fantasy commodity.

McDaniels will re-sign with the Rockets on a three-year, $10 million contract, Mark Berman of Fox 26 reports.

McDaniels joined the Rockets in February, after spending the majority of his rookie season in Philadelphia. The second-year guard wasn't able to carve out much of a role after joining the Rockets, playing in just 10 games, while averaging 1.1 points, 0.5 rebounds, 0.2 assists and 0.2 blocks over three minutes per game. McDaniels showed a lot of promise during his time in Philadelphia though and the Rockets must have seen that, as they'll keep McDaniels around for the next three years. McDaniels remains buried on the depth chart, so unless he breaks out during training camp and earns a larger role, he'll likely remain limited in his fantasy value.

McDaniels (wrist) received a qualifying offer from the Rockets on Tuesday, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.

McDaniels is now officially a restricted free agent, but it's unclear whether the Rockets will intend to match any offer he may receive this offseason. The Clemson product is still recovering from a wrist injury suffered near the end of the regular season.

McDaniels was traded from the Sixers to the Rockets in February. He averaged 1.1 points, 0.5 rebounds, 0.2 assists, and 0.2 blocks in three minutes per game through 10 games with the Rockets in 2014-15.

The 22-year-old rookie, who is under team control through 2015-16, finished his season in Houston with a wrist injury that kept him out of the playoffs. McDaniels played sparingly in Houston with MVP candidate James Harden, Trevor Ariza, and Corey Brewer ahead of him on the depth chart. While McDaniels struggled to find minutes in Houston, his stint with Philadelphia was more promising, where he averaged 9.2 points, 0.8 three-pointers, 3.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.3 blocks, and 0.8 steals in 25 minutes per game through 52 games. Due to McDaniels' earlier production with the Sixers, a team may match the Rockets' offer sheet this offseason, giving McDaniels a chance to find more minutes elsewhere.

McDaniels suffered a wrist injury in Wednesday's regular season finale and is expected to miss the entire playoffs, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The Rockets believe McDaniels fractured his wrist, an injury which would likely require surgery and entail a fairly lengthy recovery period. While the rookie likely would not have been much more than an end-of-the-bench option in the postseason, it's another loss for a team already riddled with injuries.

McDaniels wasn't expected to play Saturday after having not practiced with the team, but in a blowout, McDaniels played four minutes, missing both of his field goal attempts.

Any value McDaniels may have had in Philadelphia was likely snuffed out by the trade to Houston, as he will now be stuck behind Trevor Ariza, James Harden, and the surging Corey Brewer. Dynasty and keeper, and deep leagues should be the only leagues in which McDaniels is rostered moving forward.

McDaniels is active for Saturday's game against the Raptors but coach Kevin McHale is not expected to use his efforts since he has yet to practice with the team.

Unless the Rockets find themselves in a dire situation, McDaniels is in line to stay on the bench until he's had some practice time to get acclimated to his new teammates and coaches. His next opportunity to make his Rockets debut will be against the Timberwolves on Monday.

McDaniels was traded to the Rockets on Thursday, Yahoo! Sports reports.

McDaniels is unlikely to play significant minutes on the Sixers this season with James Harden and Trevor Ariza ahead of him on the depth chart, but he's an interesting player to follow given his ability to block shots from the shooting guard position. Isaiah Canaan was traded to the Sixers in exchange.

McDaniels was moved back to the bench in favor of Tim Frazier, and played just 17 minutes, scoring eight points (2-4 FG, 4-6 FT) with eight rebounds, two assists, and one block.

While McDaniels' blocks from shooting guard are appealing, his playing time and general production are not. The rookie is averaging just 10.1 points, 0.5 three-pointers, 3.9 rebounds, 0.6 steals, and 0.9 blocks in his last eight games, and despite his potential, this ongoing level of production is not enough to make him a must-own player.

McDaniels started in place of the injured Michael Carter-Williams (foot) Friday against the Celtics. He scored 15 points (5-9 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 4-5 FT), grabbed three rebounds, and added one assist and one steal in 23 minutes.

When given extended opportunities, McDaniels has had a few very productive stretches this season. What makes his stand out most are his defensive abilities, averagine 0.9 steals and 1.3 blocks per game as a wing player in only 26 minutes per game. If Carter-Williams remains out, McDaniels is a good flier play, depending on league format.

McDaniels will move into the starting lineup against the Celtics on Friday, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

McDaniels is moving into the starting lineup because Michael Carter-Williams (foot) is staying off the court. Carter-Williams is already listed as a game-time decision for Saturday's contest against the Hornets, so McDaniels may ultimately benefit from two straight starts.

McDaniels had seven points on 2-of-12 shooting Saturday against the Hawks. He added four rebounds, a block, and an assist in 23 minutes of the bench.

McDaniels finished January averaging 9.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, and one block in 27.4 minutes. He is one of the most heavily used bench players in Philadelphia's rotation. McDaniels scored in double figures ten times in January. His shooting percentage (39.6% in January) leaves plenty of room for improvement, however.

McDaniels scored 16 points (5-8 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 5-6 FT) to go along with four rebounds, one assist, three steals and two blocks in 28 minutes Monday against the Pelicans.

McDaniels carried a little bit more of the offensive load with Michael Carter-Williams (illness) out Monday and scored at least 12 points for the third time in his last four games. He is only averaging 26 minutes and 9.2 points a game this season, so his fantasy value will likely remain limited unless he were to see more minutes consistently.

McDaniels scored 10 points (2-10 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 5-6 FT) with eight rebounds, four blocks and a steal in 32 minutes during Wednesday's loss to the Raptors.

He's now scored in double digits in five of his last six games, and McDaniels continues to provide some value in both blocks and threes. the second round pick remains one of the bigger surprises in the league this season.

McDaniels played 33 minutes in his return to the starting lineup, contributing 10 points (3-7 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), three rebounds, one assist, and two blocks.

McDaniels replaced Henry Sims, who played 19 minutes off the bench. With the organization viewing Nerlens Noel as a center, Hollis Thompson (illness) reportedly losing 20 pounds, and Tony Wroten on the trading block, McDaniels should have plenty of opportunity the rest of the season.

McDaniels will move back into the starting lineup against the Pacers on Saturday, the Bucks County Courier Times reports.

McDaniels has moved in and out of the starting lineup this season but continues to play around 25.5 minutes per game regardless of where he starts. To make room for McDaniels, Henry Sims will come off the bench.

McDaniels returned to the bench Friday against the Nets, playing 23 minutes in the win. He scored six points (2-4 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 1-1 FT) and added two rebounds and three assists.

McDaniels has a lot of talent and potential as a fantasy performer, especially considering his ability to produce threes, steals, and blocks, even if he did not provide all of those on Friday.

McDaniels will come off the bench Friday, Sixers.com's Max Rappaport reports.

This comes as a major disappointment, as McDaniels had finally been back to seeing 30-plus minutes over his last two games. The Sixers wanted Luc Richard Mbah a Moute to guard Joe Johnson on Friday, with Robert Covington sliding to the two. McDaniels is too talented to drop in mid-sized leagues, but it has been frustrating to own him lately.
