Solder has signed a two-year, $20.62 million contract extension with the Patriots, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Solder, who started all 16 games during the 2014 at left tackle, will remain in New England through 2017 with this new deal. Solder was diagnosed and treated for testicular cancer in advance of the 2014 season, ESPN.com reports.
Solder, who was diagnosed in April of 2014, was then treated and recovered in time to play in all 16 games for the Patriots, who won Super Bowl XLIX. Solder has had checkups every three months since his surgery, per the Boston Globe and all of his results on that front have been good. The 27-year-old is slated to reprise his role as the Patriots' starting left tackle in 2015.

He excels both in pass protection and as a run blocker. Solder will earn a little over $7 million in 2015.

Sun Dec 15 201315:25Pats LT Solder done for day w/ 'head' injury
Patriots LT Nate Solder was forced from New England's Week 15 game against the Dolphins with a "head" injury, and will not return.
Solder's "head" injury is almost certainly a concussion, which would be his second in as many weeks after the Patriots rushed him back for Week 15. It's a troubling development, and has Solder very dicey for Week 16. LG Logan Mankins has kicked over to left tackle, with Josh Kline checking in at left guard.

OT Nate Solder hinted Saturday he expects to be the Patriots' left tackle in 2012 if Matt Light retires.
Solder said he would have to "earn" the job, but also that he believes he was drafted to eventually be the Patriots' left tackle. Light has remained mostly mum on his future, but suggested last weekend he hasn't closed the book on returning for a 12th NFL season.

Sat Nov 12 201112:55Solder diagnosed with concussion
Patriots OT Nate Solder has been added to the injury report with a concussion, and is questionable for Week 10.
The fact that Solder is just now being added to the injury report obviously suggests he suffered the injury in practice on Friday. Despite his questionable tag, his chances of taking the field against the Jets are extremely low. Sebastian Vollmer was already in line to make his second straight start at right tackle, so the injury is not a huge blow for the Pats offense.

Tue Oct 11 201119:26Solder was Cowboys' other choice
If the Cowboys had succeeded in trading down on draft day, they would have concentrated on landing Nate Solder.
"We liked Nate Solder very much," coach Jason Garrett said. "He was one of the three tackles that we considered strongly in the first round. ... We thought he was an outstanding player, certainly a first-round pick." Billed as a highly athletic developmental player, Solder has exceeded expectations as a fill-in starter early on for the Patriots.

Sat Sep 17 201112:27Solder will still play when Vollmer returns
Rookie RT Nate Solder will remain a part of the Patriots' rotation at tackle once fellow RT Sebastian Vollmer returns from his back injury.
"I would cycle three of those guys in. (LT Matt Light), Solder, and Vollmer," HC Bill Belichick said on Friday. "I think they'd all play." Solder stood tall in New England's Week 1 win over the Dolphins, manhandling Pro Bowl OLB Cameron Wake more than once. He could be in line for more snaps than a typical swing tackle.

Sat Sep 10 201110:14Solder in line to start on Monday
With Patriots RT Sebastian Vollmer sidelined by a back injury, first-round pick Nate Solder is in line to start against the Dolphins on Monday.
Vollmer has missed three straight practices, and is considered unlikely to suit up on Monday. As long as Vollmer's injury doesn't linger, Solder should be relegated to swing duties as a rookie.

Sun Sep 4 201109:29Solder to see time at right tackle
Patriots HC Bill Belichick has confirmed first-round pick Nate Solder will see snaps at right tackle this season.
"Well, if he's our third tackle, our swing tackle with (Matt) Light and (Sebastian) Vollmer, then that's what he's going to have to do," Belichick said. Solder was taken at No. 17 overall to serve as the Patriots' new blindside protector, but was relegated to swing duties once Light was re-signed. He should be a starter in 2012.

Thu Aug 4 201114:35Patriots do deal with Nate Solder
Patriots agreed to terms with No. 17 overall pick Nate Solder on a four-year contract.
Solder might have had a chance to start on Opening Day if not for the lockout. Instead, the Patriots committed $7 million guaranteed to bring back incumbent LT Matt Light. Solder will compete for the Patriots' "swing" tackle position while offering ultra-talented depth. He figures to be a starter by 2012.

Sun Jul 17 201109:10Solder ready to start?
The Boston Globe has spoken with four NFL college scouting directors that all believe first-round pick Nate Solder could start at left tackle from the get-go this season.
This has been considered a strong possibility since the Patriots took Solder at No. 17 overall in April. There's a very good chance free agent Matt Light will be allowed to depart, which would give New England no choice but to make Solder its blindside protector. For a team where anything less than Super Bowl title is a disappointment, that's a risky proposition.
