Carlos Lee has announced his retirement from baseball.
Lee said on a radio show in Panama that he received offers from four different teams over the offseason, but none of them were for the two years he desired. Sun Jan 13 201318:28Marlins not expected to re-sign Carlos Lee
According to˙MLB.com's Joe Frisaro, the Marlins have no interest in re-signing free agent Carlos Lee.
With Logan Morrison (knee) questionable for Opening Day, the Marlins currently lack depth at first base, but have all but ruled out bringing back Lee. If Morrison isn't ready for the start of the season, Greg Dobbs or Joe Mahoney would likely be considered for an expanded role. Austin Kearns is also expected to be re-signed and could be added to the mix.

Sat Sep 29 201200:27Carlos Lee delivers walk-off single vs. Phils
Carlos Lee delivered a walk-off RBI single off Josh Lindblom in the ninth inning on Friday, propelling the Marlins to a 2-1 victory over the Phillies.
Lee finished the night 1-for-4, but that one was the critical knock in the ball game. The 36-year-old slugger is clearly on the downside of his career, but has still been a fairly productive player this season, slashing .265/.329/.370 with nine homers and 75 RBI.

He also added a sacrifice fly earlier on the night. The power numbers aren't quite what we've come to expect from Lee, but he's still having a fairly solid season, hitting .276/.340/.386 with nine homers, 72 RBI and three stolen bases.

Sat Sep 1 201222:02Carlos Lee has three hits in loss to Mets

All three of Lee's hits were singles, including a clutch RBI knock off Ramon Ramirez in the eighth inning to increase the Marlins lead to 3-1. The power numbers are certainly lacking from his career norms, but Lee is still having a decent season, hitting .279/.346/.387 with eight homers and 63 RBI.

Thu Aug 30 201214:51Report: Carlos Lee drawing trade interest
According to Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports, Carlos Lee continues to draw trade interest from teams that need a right-handed bat.
Lee was reportedly placed on waivers earlier this month. We're assuming he cleared, which means he could be traded to any team. Of course, he has 14 teams on his no-trade list and blocked a trade to the Dodgers earlier this year, so he's no lock to be moved. The 36-year-old is batting .278/.346/.388 with eight home runs, 62 RBI and a .733 OPS over 116 games this season.

Thu Aug 9 201220:51Lee interested in returning to Marlins
Carlos Lee told Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald that he is interested in returning to the Marlins next season.
"I like this team," said Lee, who was acquired from the Astros in July. "I don't know what their plans are, but I like it here." Spencer was told by a team source that Lee's agent has spoken with the team about returning, but it's not known if the interest is mutual. It's unlikely Lee is in the team's long-term plans, as they already tried to trade him before the deadline and are better off with Logan Morrison at first base as opposed to left field.

Thu Aug 2 201222:57Carlos Lee has two hits in losing effort
Carlos Lee went 2-for-3 and drove home the Marlins lone run in Thursday's loss to the Braves.
While Lee has already been traded once this season, and could very easily be moved again in a waiver deal, he's quietly having a fairly productive season. He's now hitting .290 with six homers and 43 RBI , including an even .300 average in 24 games with the Marlins.

Wed Aug 1 201222:31Carlos Lee has nice night in win
Carlos Lee went 2-for-3 with an RBI, run scored and walk in Wednesday's win over the Braves.
Lee now has reached base at least twice in five of his past six games. The RBI was his 13th in 23 games as a Marlin, while he's now hitting .287/.351/.397. Despite the continued evaporation of El Caballo's power, he's unlikely to pass through unclaimed if he's placed on waivers.

Tue Jul 31 201218:26Carlos Lee rejected trade to Yankees
According to ESPN's Jayson Stark, Carlos Lee rejected a deadline trade to the Yankees.
So the Bombers got Casey McGehee from the Pirates instead. Lee probably would have been a better option, but he has a no-trade clause and would not waive it. The Marlins acquired the 36-year-old earlier this month from the Astros.

Sat Jul 14 201221:51Carlos Lee has RBI, SB in win over Nationals
Carlos Lee went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's 2-1 victory over the Nationals.
Lee's RBI single off Gio Gonzalez in the fourth inning was his first RBI in six games as a Marlin. He has already picked up two stolen bases in Ozzie Guillen's aggressive system there, after attempting zero steals in 66 games with the Astros. There's some fantasy value left in the veteran.

ESPN's Buster Olney reports that first baseman Carlos Lee has been traded to the Marlins for third baseman Matt Dominguez and left-hander Rob Rasmussen.

The 36-year-old was hitting .287/.336/.411 with five homers and 29 RBI through 66 games this season for Houston. Miami will hope for better.

Wed Jul 4 201217:17Carlos Lee gives clearance for trade to Miami
According to ESPN's Buster Olney, Astros first baseman Carlos Lee has agreed to go to the Marlins.
Lee's locker was cleaned out by the end of the Astros' game Wednesday game against the Pirates, and it appears that he is on his way to Miami. The 36-year-old has struggled at the plate this season, batting just .287 with a .747 OPS in 66 games for Houston, but perhaps he'll find new life with the Fish. The Astros will cover most of what remains on his $18.5 million salary for 2012.

Wed Jul 4 201216:54Report: Fish 'deep into talks' for Carlos Lee
ESPN's Buster Olney reports that the Marlins are "deep into talks" for Astros slugger Carlos Lee.
Olney says Lee has "indicated a willingness to play for Miami," which makes things easier on all parties involved. The veteran first baseman was nearly dealt to the Dodgers earlier this week but didn't want to go out west and was able to use his no-trade clause to keep that trade from being completed. Lee, 36, is batting .287/.336/.411 with five home runs and 29 RBI in 66 games this season for Houston.

Sun Jul 1 201220:19Carlos Lee-to-Dodgers trade officially dead
The Dodgers have pulled out of a proposed trade for Carlos Lee.
This announcement is basically a semantics game, as Lee wasn't going to accept a trade to Los Angeles anyway. Perhaps the veteran will change his mind and accept a trade later this month, but right now Lee prefers to stay close to his ranch in Texas rather than join a contender. The proposed swap had the Dodgers swallowing all of Lee's remaining salary this season and shipping minor league right-hander Garrett Gould to Houston.
