Porter entered the starting lineup in Sunday's win over the Raiders, collecting two tackles and knocking down one pass while seeing 58 snaps.
After missing the first two weeks of the season with a hamstring injury and seeing limited action in the Week 3 blowout loss to the Seahawks, Porter surprisingly displaced Alan Ball from the starting lineup. He generally fared well in holding upstart rookie Amari Cooper in check, as the No. 4 overall pick reeled in only four of nine targets for 49 yards and a touchdown, with nickel back Sherrick McManis bearing more responsibility on the score than Porter. With Porter now well removed from the hamstring pull that limited him through much of training camp, it's likely that he'll remain in the starting lineup and function as the Bears' No. 1 corner ahead of Ball and the struggling Kyle Fuller. Look for Porter to match up with the Chiefs' Jeremy Maclin in Week 5.

Porter (hamstring) is out for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, the Chicago Tribune reports.
With Porter again unable to play, Sherrick McManis will serve as the nickelback, behind starting corners Kyle Fuller and Alan Ball. If McManis plays well, Porter may be bumped down to the fourth or fifth spot on the depth chart upon rejoining the team.

Porter (hamstring) didn't participate in Wednesday's practice.
Despite being banged up throughout training camp, Porter ended up claiming a backup job at cornerback. Porter's availability for the Week 1 matchup against the Packers is in some peril though, which could result in Sherrick McManis handling the nickel back duties for the Bears.

Porter sustained a hamstring injury in Saturday's preseason loss to the Bengals, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Porter's path to making the Bears' 53-man roster got a little bit easier after the team released Tim Jennings following the game, but Alan Ball appears in better position than Porter to claim the starting cornerback role opposite Kyle Fuller. If the injury -- which kept Porter out of practice Monday -- proves to be significant, his chances of cracking the roster could take a serious hit.

Porter signed a one-year deal with the Bears on Monday.
Porter was released by the Redskins just over a week ago following a season that was plagued by multiple injuries. Those ailments limited him to just three games and five combined tackles, but when healthy, he's capable of 50-70 tackles and creating multiple turnovers. Porter will be a more-than-capable addition on a struggling pass defense that ranked 30th in the league in 2014 with 264.4 passing yards allowed per game.

The Redskins have released Porter, the Washington Post reports.
The release of Porter, who was limited to three games for Washington last season due to hamstring and shoulder injuries, saves the team $2.2 million against the salary cap. Porter became expendable due to the emergence of 2014 fourth-rounder Bashaud Breeland as well as the free agent addition of Chris Culliver.

Porter wasn't able to log a single practice all week, so his absence could stretch past Sunday. The Redskins have a vulnerable secondary to begin with, so Porter's eventual return will be a welcome one.

It would be great news for Robert Griffin III as the Redskins play at Oakland next week.
