OF Brandon Barnes, recently designated for assignment by the Rockies, cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Albuquerque. Barnes had a .220 average in 48 games for Colorado this season.

OF Brandon Barnes was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday when CF Charlie Blackmon was activated from the disabled list. "'Barnsey' has done everything we've asked him to do," Colorado manager Walt Weiss said. "Statistics for him are deceiving, like they usually are for guys who aren's every-day players." Barnes was hitting .194 with two doubles, a triple and four RBIs in 31 at-bats for the Rockies."He's been a valuable piece for us," Weiss said. "Managing a game, it's nice to know he's over there to double-switch, pinch-hit. You can upgrade your defense with him at times. Unfortunately, it's a numbers crunch at this time with the construction of our roster." The Rockies have 13 pitchers and 12 position players.

OF Brandon Barnes was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday. Barnes was hitting .191 with four RBIs.

Barnes (hamstring) is likely out for the season, according to manager Walt Weiss, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.

Barnes had to exit Wednesday's contest after suffering a mild left hamstring strain, and it now appears it will cost him the remainder of the season. It doesn't sound as though it's too major of an issue though, so he should be able to have his usual offseason routine. With Charlie Blackmon nursing a neck injury, Corey Dickerson may be called upon more down the stretch.

Barnes (hamstring) is out of the lineup Thursday, the Denver Post's Patrick Saunders reports.

He suffered the injury in Wednesday's game, so it is not surprising that he was not ready to get back out there in Thursday's day game. Charlie Blackmon (neck) is also dealing with an injury, so Corey Dickerson may need to slide to center field Thursday.

Barnes left Wednesday's game against the Pirates with a mild left hamstring strain.

Barnes started Wednesday's game in center field and went 0-for-3 before exiting. He will have to heal up quickly in order to play Thursday with an early afternoon game on the schedule.
