Fri May 13 201118:45Feliz signs with Camden Riversharks
Pedro Feliz has signed with the Camden Riversharks of the independent Atlantic League.
Feliz, 36, failed to make the Royals out of spring training and batted just .218/.240/.293 with four home runs, 31 RBI and a .533 OPS over 429 plate appearances between the Astros and Cardinals last season. The veteran infielder could eventually latch on with a major league team, but that he had to sign with the Riversharks speaks volumes about his rapidly declining skill set.

Mon Mar 28 201108:44Royals release infielder Pedro Feliz
Royals released INF Pedro Feliz.
Feliz asked for and was granted his release on Sunday so that he might latch on with another organization before the start of the regular season. He's never been much of a hitter, but his defense is good and a couple of clubs need corner infield help.

Sun Mar 27 201118:17Marlins not looking at Feliz
The Marlins aren't considering adding Pedro Feliz is he opts out of his minor league deal with the Royals on Monday.
They also have no interest in picking up either Josh Fields or Andy Marte from the Pirates, according to the Sun Sentinel's Juan C Rodriguez. It looks like Donnie Murphy will be the man at third base initially for Florida.

Thu Mar 24 201108:42Marlins may consider Pedro Feliz for third
Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com writes that Pedro Feliz is one outside option the Marlins may consider for third base.
Matt Dominguez is batting just .190 (8-for-42) this spring, which has forced the Marlins to consider the alternatives. However, according to Rosenthal, the Marlins are not sure Feliz is an upgrade. After batting just .218 with five homers and 40 RBI last season, the 35-year-old is batting .105 (2-for-19) in Royals' camp. Internal candidates for third include Donnie Murphy, Wes Helms, Emilio Bonifacio and Greg Dobbs. Needless to say, it's a situation fantasy owners can safely ignore.

Thu Feb 17 201114:40Feliz has opt-out clause in deal
Pedro Feliz's contract with the Royals contains an opt-out clause that he can exercise if he doesn't make the Opening Day roster.
He'll make $800,000 if he makes the big league club and can choose to earn $75,000 if he accepts an assignment to Triple-A. He's in a good spot in Kansas City, with a chance to compete with Wilson Betemit for the third base job. Feliz simply isn't a good player, though, and even his once-heralded defense slipped last season. Even if he does make the team, prospect Mike Moustakas is likely to take over at some point during the first half.

Fri Feb 4 201109:27Moore: Feliz will 'compete' for playing time
Royals GM Dayton Moore said Thursday that Pedro Feliz will "get an opportunity to compete" for time at third base this season.
"He's a veteran guy who gives us some depth," Moore said. "Historically, he's a very good defender, a quality makeup guy." Some of that may be true, but Feliz will be an afterthought once the Royals turn to top third base prospect Mike Moustakas a handful of weeks into the regular season. The 35-year-old batted just .218/.240/.293 last season for the Astros and Cardinals.

Pedro Feliz went 2-for-4 with two RBI in Saturday's win over the Giants.
Feliz is 4-for-8 since joining the Cardinals via trade earlier this week. He's also provided the Birds with a steady glove and arm at the third base position. Hey, maybe this will all work out for St. Louis.
Thu Aug 19 201013:09Cardinals acquire Pedro Feliz from Astros
Cardinals acquired 3B Pedro Feliz and cash considerations from the Astros for RHP David Carpenter.
Wed Jun 23 201008:47Johnson to start over Feliz
Astros manager Brad Mills said that Chris Johnson will get the bulk of the playing time over Pedro Feliz moving forward.
"He understood (the decision)," said Mills. "He was disappointed, as we knew he would be, but at the same time he understands the situation." Feliz was signed to a one-year, $4.5 million contract over the winter, however he is batting just .220/.245/.295 with two homers and 20 RBI. He also leads the club with nine errors. Chris Johnson is worth an investment in NL-only leagues.

Fri Jun 18 201000:47Astros' Feliz goes hitless in loss
Pedro Feliz went 0-for-4 and committed his ninth error of the season Thursday against the Royals.
It's incredible that the Astros have stuck with Feliz this long, particularly in light of the fact that Chris Johnson is hitting .321/.353/.571 in Triple-A. At .224/.246/.301 in 219 reeking at-bats, Feliz has been one of the game's worst hitters, and his defense just isn't what it used to be.
