Tue Feb 11 201412:24Roy Oswalt retires after 13 seasons in MLB
Roy Oswalt has decided to retire from baseball.
We heard back in November that Oswalt intended to pitch in the majors in 2014, but he apparently didn't find the right opportunity. He'll work with his agent, Bob Garber, in retirement. A three-time All-Star, Oswalt will walk away from the game with a 163-102 lifetime record over 13 seasons to go along with a 3.36 ERA and 1.21 WHIP.

According to MLB Trade Rumors, Roy Oswalt intends to pitch in the majors in 2014.
While Oswalt prefers to start, he is open to pitching in relief and has heard from multiple teams about the possibility. The 36-year-old appears to be looking for a major league deal, but he will likely struggle to get it after posting a 6.80 ERA over the past two seasons.

Thu Sep 19 201320:44Roy Oswalt pitches poorly vs. Cards
Roy Oswalt was charged with four runs over just 4 2/3 frames but escaped with a no-decision in the Rockies' 7-6 extra innings win over the Cardinals Thursday.
Oswalt gave up five hits and walked four, though it's worth noting that home plate umpire Vic Carapazza's strike zone was moving around all day. He's now lasted 4 2/3 innings in each of his two starts since rejoining the rotation and has a 7.71 ERA for the season. Fantasy owners should avoid him next week at home against the Red Sox.

Sun Sep 15 201300:24Roy Oswalt falls to 0-6 on the season
Roy Oswalt dropped to 0-6 after allowing two runs in 4 2/3 innings Saturday versus the Diamondbacks.
As has been typical, Oswalt got his strikeouts (five tonight) but gave up a lot of hits anyway (seven). He's lost all six of his appearances for the Rockies, though run support has been a major issue. He has a 29/5 K/BB ratio with just two homers allowed in 25 2/3 innings, yet his ERA stands at 7.71. He'll break FIP if this keeps up.

Oswalt followed Bettis during Sunday's start in San Diego, but it will be Oswalt getting the ball this weekend in Arizona. The veteran right-hander has put up an 8.57 ERA and 1.76 WHIP over 21 innings this season for the Rox and should be avoided for fantasy purposes.

Rockies activated RHP Roy Oswalt from the 15-day disabled list.
Oswalt has been sidelined since early July due to a strained left hamstring. The veteran hurler was an abysmal 0-4 with a 7.64 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 23/2 K/BB ratio over 17 2/3 innings before hitting the DL. He shouldn't be started in any mixed leagues down the stretch.

Wed Sep 4 201318:16Roy Oswalt to pitch on Sunday for Rockies
Roy Oswalt (hamstring) will be activated from the disabled list and appear in Sunday's game in San Diego.
It's not known yet whether he'll start the game or come in after Chad Bettis. Given Bettis' 5.45 ERA and 1.79 WHIP over seven starts, the smart money would be on Oswalt getting the call. The veteran right-hander has been on the shelf since early July with a strained left hamstring.

"They're looking at me kind of funny, like it's going too fast. It's not going fast enough for me. I know they don't want to push me until it gets completely healed, but it feels great right now."
