Wed Dec 22 201016:01Astros ink lefty Chacin to minors deal
Astros re-signed LHP Gustavo Chacin to a minor league contract.
The deal also includes an invite to spring training. The 30-year-old left-hander appeared in the major leagues for the first time since 2007 this past season, posting a 4.70 ERA and 31/20 K/BB ratio over 38 1/3 innings. He hasn't been effective against left-handed batters for quite some time now, so the team will likely have better options.

Wed Jul 21 201018:22Astros' Chacin gets save versus Cubs
Gustavo Chacin recorded his first major league save despite giving up two runs in the 12th against the Cubs on Wednesday.
After entering a 4-1 game, Chacin got two quick outs. However, a walk to Kosuke Fukudome and a Geovany Soto homer followed. Chacin was left in anyway, and he gave up a single and a walk before getting Tyler Colvin to line out to right to end the game. We wouldn't be surprised at all if this goes down as Chacin's lone career save.

Signed to a minor league contract by the Astros last December, Chacin had a 3.65 ERA over five starts with Triple-A Round Rock.
