Murphy was drafted third overall by the Austin Spurs in the 2014 D-League Draft.
Murphy spent his rookie season playing for three different teams before getting traded to the Cavaliers in the offseason. The 24-year-old was waived by Cleveland before the season started and he will now start his 2014-15 campaign in the D-League. However, he may ultimately get called up by an NBA team in need of depth on their bench.

Erik Murphy was traded to the Cavs on Tuesday.
He had one great game in summer league, but was more or less a no-show. Murphy probably wouldn't have made the Jazz and he'll have a tough time making any other team. His non-guaranteed contract should be waived at some point this offseason.

The Bulls waived rookie PF Erik Murphy on Thursday.
Murphy played under three minutes per game in 24 appearances, and he was redundant on the roster with Carlos Boozer and Taj Gibson both healthy. It sounds like Chicago may replace him with veteran swingman Ronnie Brewer as they gear up for the playoffs.

Bulls rookie Erik Murphy suffered a broken nose in Tuesday's Summer League game against the Blazers.
Literally a tough break for the rookie, who could miss the rest of Summer League depending on the severity of the injury. However, he should be good to go by the start of training camp, if not before. He had 10 points and five boards before leaving the game.
