Sat May 12 201201:29Dodgers sign INF Aaron Miles to minors deal
Dodgers signed INF Aaron Miles to a minor league contract.
Miles is already at the team's complex in Arizona, presumably to participate in extended spring training. He will likely soon head to Triple-A Albuquerque in the hopes of eventually joining the major league roster. The 35-year-old infielder batted .275/.314/.346 in 490 plate appearances last season for the Dodgers.

Thu Apr 19 201209:21Aaron Miles still hoping to play
Aaron Miles' agent told MLBTradeRumors.com Thursday that his client is still hoping to play this year.
Miles failed to attract interest on the free agent market this winter and spring after batting just .275/.314/.346 in 490 plate appearances last season for the Dodgers. The 35-year-old middle infielder isn't much of a defender either and could struggle to find a minor league deal.

Sat Aug 13 201101:16Aaron Miles goes 0-for-5, fans three times
Aaron Miles went 0-for-5 and struck out three times Friday against the Astros.
Miles had a great run in the first half, but it's come crashing down in a big way lately. Not only has he hit just .207 since the All-Star break, but with just two walks in 87 at-bats, his OBP sits at .222. He'll likely play more often than not with Juan Uribe and Dee Gordon set to miss the next two weeks, but he's a major liability right now.

Tue Aug 9 201101:44Miles has two-hit night in loss
Aaron Miles went 2-for-5 with his 30th RBI in Los Angeles' loss to the Phillies on Monday.
Miles is now up to 92 hits through his first 94 games this season, and batting .297/.316/.361. He's still not worth a look outside of deeper NL-only leagues, but that has to be far more production than the Dodgers were expecting when they signed him to a minor-league deal in February.

An X-ray on Aaron Miles' right elbow came back negative.
The diminutive infielder said he could be available to play Wednesday. Miles has provided surprising production this season and is batting .438 (32-for-73) over his last 24 games.

Wed Jul 6 201108:36Miles exits with bruised right elbow
Aaron Miles left Tuesday's game against the Mets with a bruised right elbow after being hit by a pitch by Mike Pelfrey in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Miles was taken for precautionary X-rays, though the results won't be known until Wednesday. It's unfortunate timing for the veteran infielder, who is hitting .438 (32-for-73) over his last 24 games.

Sat Jul 2 201101:31Aaron Miles goes 4-for-4 against Angels
Aaron Miles went 4-for-4 with a stolen base Friday against the Angels.
Miles has the ugliest .324 average one will ever see -- he has all of four walks and eight extra-base hits in 216 at-bats -- but it's pretty much impossible to hit .324 and not be pretty useful, especially if one is playing a decent second base in the process. With Jamey Carroll also performing well, the Dodgers are going to need to put Juan Uribe on the bench after Rafael Furcal returns.

Sat May 21 201112:28Miles (rib) out of lineup again Friday
Aaron Miles (rib) is out of the starting lineup for the third straight day Saturday.
It isn't believed to be a serious injury, but the Dodgers will give him another day. Juan Castro gets the start at second base Saturday while Russell Mitchell plays third.

Mon May 16 201109:41Miles goes 3-for-4 in loss
Aaron Miles finished 3-for-4 with an RBI in Sunday's loss to the Diamondbacks.
Miles now has 13 hits in his last eight games and seems to be the only Dodgers hitter who isn't slumping. He's quickly bumped his batting average to .292 and should continue seeing a good amount of playing time until the hotness wears off. "Now I feel good and when I hit the ball it's not going at people," he said Sunday. "My timing feels good and I'm seeing the ball good."

Sun May 1 201101:06Dodgers' Miles goes 0-for-4
Aaron Miles went 0-for-4 as the Dodgers' leadoff man in Saturday's loss to the Padres.
It's hard to tell what Don Mattingly is thinking when he sticks Miles into the leadoff spot against a right-hander. Yeah, Jamey Carroll is traditionally superior against lefties, but it's not very hard to be better than Miles against righties. He should be leading off, with Miles in the eighth spot. With the 0-for tonight, Miles is hitting .258 with a .290 OBP in 66 at-bats.

Thu Mar 31 201108:29Dodgers add Aaron Miles to roster
Dodgers purchased the contract of INF Aaron Miles.
Miles will act as a temporary utility infielder while Casey Blake continues to recover from late-spring injuries. The maybe 5-foot-8 Miles carries zero fantasy value.

Tue Mar 29 201108:44Miles likely to land spot with Dodgers
Aaron Miles is likely to make the Dodgers.
With starting third baseman Casey Blake and utilityman Jamey Carroll battling springtime injuries, the Dodgers are desperate for April infielders. Miles is close to useless, but he'll serve as a warm body for Los Angeles in the early going. The 34-year-old posted a rough .628 OPS across 151 plate appearances last season.

Mon Feb 7 201116:59Dodgers sign Aaron Miles to minors deal
Dodgers signed INF Aaron Miles to a minor league contract.
The contract includes an invitation to spring training. Miles, 34, batted .281/.311/.317 with zero homers and nine RBI over 151 plate appearances with the Cardinals last season. He can play both middle infield positions and third base, but isn't a particularly skilled defender. The veteran is a longshot to make the team.
Wed Jan 26 201121:23Miles drawing interest from multiple clubs
According to Troy Renck of the Denver Post, free agent infielder Aaron Miles has drawn recent interest from multiple teams.
Cardinals manager Tony La Russa kept Miles' career alive by giving him undeserved playing time last year, but St. Louis is filled to the brim with infielders and the 34-year-old is going to have to turn elsewhere. He doesn't have good range, he doesn't have a good arm, he doesn't hit anything but singles and now he's pretty old. Someone will give him a non-roster invitation to spring camp, but will be a shock if he makes a big league roster.

Tue Jun 1 201017:03Cards call up Aaron Miles
Cardinals purchased the contract of INF Aaron Miles from Double-A Springfield.
Like it or not, he's back. Miles previously compiled a .289/.335/.363 batting line with the Cardinals from 2006-2008. He earned his way back to the club with a .279/.362/.344 batting line over 61 at-bats with Double-A Springfield. It's a nice story, but he's unlikely to play a significant role with the team moving forward.
Thu May 27 201020:02Miles to remain in Cardinals' organization
Aaron Miles has decided to remain in the Cardinals organization after a meeting with general manager John Mozeliak.
Miles signed a minor league contract with the Cardinals about a month ago and is batting a healthy .318 with a .400 on-base percentage for Double-A Springfield. The Cards don't have a spot for him right now, but one could open up due to injury in the near future. He'll wait for the opportunity.

Thu May 13 201018:48Miles set to report to Cards' Double-A team
Aaron Miles will report to Double-A Springfield on Thursday night.
Miles looked pretty good in a few extended spring training games last week, but he's still far from proving himself worthy of a major league roster spot. He batted a miserable 185/.224/.242 in 157 at-bats for the Cubs last season and lacks range at all infield positions.

Thu May 6 201017:43Miles 7-for-16 at extended spring training
Aaron Miles, signed to a minor league contract last week, is 7-for-16 (.438) through three games at extended spring training.
The Cardinals are somewhat desperate for a utility infielder with Felipe Lopez on the disabled list, but let's hope they don't think Miles is the answer. He was one of the worst players in the major leagues last year, batting just .185/.224/.242 in 157 at-bats for the Cubs.
