He has a 2.25 ERA and 25/9 K/BB ratio in 28 innings for Norfolk.

He'll be around in case Jeremy Guthrie needs a trip to the disabled list. Guthrie left Thursday's start with a back issue and will receive an MRI Friday. Viola has been up-and-down a couple times this year but has appeared in just one game, tossing 1 2/3 scoreless innings.

Orioles optioned LHPs Pedro Viola and Troy Patton, RHP Chorye Spoone and SS Pedro Florimon Jr. to Triple-A Norfolk.
They also sent RHP Luis Lebron to Double-A Bowie. Viola and Patton had outside shots to claim one of left-handed spots in the bullpen, but they'll begin the year in the minors. Spoone is still working his way back from shoulder surgery and needs to build up some innings.
