The move was made to open a spot on the 40-man roster for Che-Hsuan Lin who was claimed off waivers from the Red Sox. The 26-year-old Del Rosario posted a 9.00 ERA, 2.16 WHIP and 11/7 K/BB ratio in 19 innings at the major league level for the Astros last season.

Enerio Del Rosario gave up three runs on four hits in one inning Monday against the Cubs.
His appearance came only hours after being called up to replace Jordan Lyles on the active roster. Del Rosario pitched around a leadoff single in the eighth inning but came undone in the ninth, surrendering three straight hits before getting pulled. He was unremarkable in 53 major league innings last season, posting a 4.58 ERA and 1.70 WHIP.
