Thu Oct 13 202211:48Sacramento Waives Kent Bazemore
The Sacramento Kings waived forward Kent Bazemore on Thursday. The 33-year-old journeyman joined the team this past offseason and will now be looking for a new team heading into the new season. Last season for the Los Angeles Lakers, he averaged 3.4 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game across 39 games. Bazemore has been a good veteran presence everywhere that he's played. That being said, he doesn't warrant any fantasy consideration, even if he joins another team during the season. His big-time contributing minutes seem to be a thing of the past.

Wed Dec 29 202118:58Austin Reaves, Kent Bazemore Out Wednesday
Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard/small forward Austin Reaves and small forward Kent Bazemore have tested out of the league's COVID-19 health and safety protocols, but neither were cleared to return to action Wednesday vs. Memphis. Reaves' absence has now been extended to seven games, while Bazemore is missing his sixth consecutive contest, leaving L.A. thin on the wing for the time being. Talen Horton-Tucker and Stanley Johnson have stepped into larger roles without the duo available. Prior to entering the protocols, Reaves had averaged 11 points and 5.3 rebounds across 28.5 minutes in his three latest outings. Fantasy managers will want to keep an eye on Reaves' and Bazemore's availability ahead of Friday's matchup against the Trail Blazers.

Fri Dec 17 202121:50Kent Bazemore Returns To Starting Five Friday
Los Angeles Lakers small forward Kent Bazemore has been bumped into the starting group for Friday's contest against Minnesota. Bazemore will be making his first start since Nov. 12, having since played sparingly off the bench. Even during his stint as a starter to begin the year, Bazemore scored in double figures just twice, severely limiting his fantasy appeal. Although, the veteran could see a significant minutes bump beginning Friday as Talen Horton-Tucker and Austin Reaves have entered the league's health and safety protocols.

Sat May 22 202120:20Curry, Warriors look forward to another chance next season
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — All along, Stephen Curry just wanted to play for something at the end after everybody counted out his Golden State Warriors from the beginning. He could only be proud when this group fell just short of the goal, appreciating how sick and saddened his teammates felt when they didn't get it done. The Warriors were eliminated from playoff contention with a 117-112 overtime loss to Memphis on Friday night in the second play-in game. That after losing a 103-100 heartbreaker to LeBron James and the Lakers two days earlier in Los Angeles. “I would love a playoff experience and seven-game series and see how we respond to that challenge. We have two — I call it three playoff games, the last game of the season and these last two play-in situations,” Curry said. "But it’s not how it’s drawn up in terms of the format, and now we have three months to rejuvenate, retool, come back next season, whatever that means. “These last three games, including the homestand, I call it nine games,... Wed Jan 22 202019:06Does Lillard's big night signal turnaround for Blazers?
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — With a big night against Golden State, Damian Lillard signaled that he's asserting himself at a crucial point of the Trail Blazers' season. And where Lillard goes, the Blazers tend to follow. “There comes a time in the season where everybody's tired, everybody's worn out, everybody's physically and mentally drained," he said. "The players got to go out there and make their minds up, are we going to do this or not? And I think we're just, as a team, getting closer to that time. We've got to leave it all out there. We've got to go take it.”Lillard had a franchise-best 61 points — including 11 3-pointers — this week in Portland's 129-124 overtime victory over the Warriors. It was the most points for a player in the NBA this season, and it broke Lillard's own franchise record of 60 points set earlier this season against Brooklyn. Afterward, a flood of admirers ranging from reigning NBA Rookie of the Year Luka Doncic to Washington Redskins running back Adrian Peterson recognized... [More]

Mon Sep 30 201919:33Blazers welcome new faces for 50th anniversary season
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The Trail Blazers have a number of new players for Portland's 50th anniversary season— and a new resolve after their playoff run last spring.Joining the well-established backcourt of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum on Portland's roster are such offseason acquisitions as Hassan Whiteside, Pau Gasol and Kent Bazemore. The Blazers open preseason camp on Tuesday."I feel like it's coming together, naturally," Lillard said Monday at the team's media day. "Being together for some weeks now and playing pickup has just been cool. I think the environment that we've created over the years, guys come in and it's easy to get comfortable with it. I think that's what's happening."Last season the Blazers finished 53-29 and clinched the third seed in the Western Conference, earning home court for the first round — and a series with the Thunder. Portland wrapped that series up in five games, capped by Lillard's memorable walk-off 3-pointer, and advanced to the conference finals for the... [More]
Mon Jun 24 201921:39Hawks trade Kent Bazemore to Trail Blazers for Evan Turner
ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Hawks have traded Kent Bazemore to the Portland Trail Blazers for Evan Turner is a swap of high-priced players heading into the final year of their contracts.Bazemore was the last holdover from the Hawks' 60-win team in 2014-15. The 6-foot-5 swingman lost his starting job midway through last season and is set to make nearly $19.3 million in the last season of a four-year, $70 million deal. The drafting of De'Andre Hunter and Cam Reddish figured to cut into Bazemore's playing time even more, leading to Monday's trade.Turner, the second overall pick in 2010, fills Atlanta's need for a backup point guard behind rookie star Trae Young and is essentially a wash in terms of costs with $18.6 million left on his contract. The Hawks will be Turner's fifth team in 10 seasons.Bazemore posted a gracious note to Atlanta on social media, saying he had a "lot of roots planted in this city" and thanking the team for "putting me in a situation to thrive."___More AP NBA: https://apnews.com/NBA and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports

Tue Oct 2 201818:13Trae Young shows why rebuilding Hawks could be fun to watch
ATLANTA (AP) — Trae Young just might make the Atlanta Hawks fun to watch this season. The rookie point guard flashed some dazzling ball-handling skills in his preseason debut, keeping his teammates and fans involved in the action while he is on the floor.Atlanta is not expected to win many games this season, but Young will likely win over his teammates and more than a few fans."His greatest skill is he can facilitate and he can find guys," first-year coach Lloyd Pierce said. "When you have a player with the ability to do that, to find guys in creative ways, he's fun to play with."In his preseason debut Monday night, Young provided a glimpse of what Hawks fans can expect this year. Some good:On one play he bounced a pass off the backboard and later wrapped on around a defender on the baseline to assist on uncontested dunks. Some not so good: It was far from a perfect night as Young missed 10 of his first 11 attempts from the field. But he seemed to get a pass on his shooting — for now.The seamless... ATLANTA (AP) — Taurean Prince knows the Atlanta Hawks are about to begin one of the toughest seasons in franchise history.A year after going 24-58 — worst in the Eastern Conference — the Hawks are likely to take a step further back in the standings with an even younger team.Point guard Trae Young, the fifth overall draft pick, and shooting guard Kevin Huerter, the 19th overall pick, are both 20 years old. Forward Omari Spellman, the 30th overall pick, is 21.Young is projected to start alongside forward John Collins, 21, and Prince, a 24-year-old small forward who began to flourish in the final six weeks of last season."I'm still super young, so I'm looking for advice, too," Prince said Monday. "I'm still figuring out things. I'm still getting better along with them every day. I'm no better than them just because of my age."The Hawks have mixed in several veterans to balance out the roster. Guard Kent Bazemore, a sixth-year veteran, and center Dewayne Dedmon, a fifth-year veteran, will start.... [More]
Thu Sep 20 201819:15Atlanta Hawks dig in for another long slog
ATLANTA (AP) — There is almost certainly pain coming for the Hawks, or at least their fans, yet first-time NBA head coach Lloyd Pierce and second-year general manager Travis Schlenk refuse to notarize that word while in charge of Atlanta's only woebegone pro team.Training camp begins Tuesday for the team that last season lost more games than any other in the Eastern Conference. The Hawks were 24-58, and their offseason moves are not likely to move them closer to playoff contention. They're going to be painfully young outside of their two potential marquee players. Vince Carter, though, is 41 years old ahead of his 20th NBA season. And Jeremy Lin, 30, signed over the summer too, joining his seventh NBA team. Oh, and they signed 30-year-old center Cole Aldrich last week.Still, the brass is excited for training camp to open next Tuesday. The NBA, after all, is as much about massive rebuilds these days as it is assembling super teams. The Hawks qualify for the former, and Pierce knows that game... [More]
