Masset has been released by the Braves, MLB.com reports.

Shortly after dropping Masset from their 40-man roster on July 5, the Braves opted to sever ties entirely, allowing the right-hander to explore free agency. After missing much of 2012 and 2013 while recovering from a pair of shoulder surgeries, Masset no longer looks like a capable big-league reliever. During stints with the Rockies and Braves the past two seasons, he's produced a 5.40 ERA and 54:33 K:BB ratio over 70 innings.

Masset was designated for assignment by the Braves on Sunday, Kevin McAlpin of Sports Radio 680 The Fan reports.

Masset allowed three runs on two hits and a walk in Sunday's contest, likely contributing to his loss of a spot on the 25-man roster. If unclaimed on waivers, he will likely be sent to the minors, but he could remain an option to rejoin the club in the future if he performs well.

Masset pitched 1.2 scoreless innings against the Giants on Sunday and earned his first win of the season as Atlanta won the game late.

San Francisco closer Santiago Casilla's meltdown credited Masset with the win after his relief appearance, but he is unlikely to accumulate many wins or saves in his eighth-inning role for Atlanta and has little fantasy value at the moment.

Masset agreed to a one-year contract with the Braves on Tuesday.

Masset will join the Braves after being removed from the Marlins' roster over the weekend. Masset posted a 5.80 ERA in 51 appearances with the Rockies last season, but he had given up just two earned runs through 9.2 innings with the Marlins at the time of his release. Expect him to pitch in middle relief for the Braves.

Masset was the unfortunate one to lose his roster spot as the Marlins make room for Henderson Alvarez on the 25-man roster. He didn't pitch badly in his time with the Marlins, allowing just two runs over 8.2 innings, so it's possible the veteran will get claimed and end up in a bullpen somewhere else.

However, the right-hander struggled to a 5.80 ERA and 1.78 WHIP in 51 appearances with the Rockies last season and isn't likely to take on meaningful innings anytime soon.

Masset signed a minor league deal with the Marlins on Monday, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports.

Masset was released by the Marlins last Tuesday, but will rejoin the organization as part of the Triple-A club. The right-hander tossed 45 frames with the Rockies in 2014, posting a 5.80 ERA and shaky 4.8 BB/9 rate. He'll serve as organizational depth in the minors until the need for an extra bullpen arm arises.

Masset gave up six runs on five hits and a walk while recording just two outs in relief Sunday vs. the Diamondbacks.

Masset provided little in the way of relief for Tommy Kahnle, who was charged with three runs of his own in the Diamondbacks' nine-run eighth inning. While it's nice to see Masset healthy again after having previously not pitched in the big leagues since 2011 due to shoulder concerns, he's been a below-average reliever to this point, carrying a 6.39 ERA and 1.83 WHIP over 37 appearances on the season.

However, if his arm is sound, he could make for a nice under-the-radar signing for the Rockies. Masset posted a 3.15 while striking out nearly a batter per inning from 2009-11.
