Quarless, who did not participate in the first two practices of the Packers' training camp due to the death of his daughter, practiced fully on Monday, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports

Quarless spoke to reporters on Monday, relaying the tragedy that he and his family suffered last week. "This past Wednesday, July 29, I lost my daughter on delivery," Quarless said. "Probably the saddest day of my life." After practicing Monday, Quarless added, "it felt real good just to get out there, catch some passes, be able to run around a little bit, kind of get back to your old self and get back into things. I'm looking forward to moving on in this camp and getting ready for the season."

Quarless spent the initial days of training camp away from the team to tend to a personal concern. Despite donning full pads to start drills Saturday, he didn't fit in any team reps, which coach Mike McCarthy confirmed was deliberate afterward. Instead, Quarless will slowly increase his workload as camp revs up in the coming days and weeks.

There was a worry Quarless would be gone for longer due to an unknown family situation, but he was only gone for two days. He should now be expected to get the majority of first team reps at tight end and remains the very likely Week 1 starter.

Coach Mike McCarthy indicated Thursday that Quarless was absent from training camp practice due to "an extremely difficult family situation and he's where he needs to be," the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

The report further notes that McCarthy does not know when Quarless might return, with the coach adding that the tight end will "be gone as long as he needs to be." In Quarless' absence, Richard Rodgers, Kennard Backman, Harold Spears, Mitchell Henry and Justin Perillo are in line to handle Green Bay's tight end reps in training camp.

The Packers have no plans to release Quarless, who was charged with a misdemeanor for discharging a firearm in public on July 4, ESPN.com reports.

Following the incident, a Packers spokesperson noted that the team was "aware of the matter involving Andrew Quarless" and "in the process of gathering more information." Per the report, Quarless could be subject to discipline under the NFL's personal conduct policy down the road. In the meantime, the tight end, who is in the second year of a two-year, $3 million contract with Green Bay, is line to compete this summer with Richard Rodgers for a starting assignment. Quarless is coming off a campaign in which he caught 29 passes for 323 yards and three TDs in 16 games, numbers that resulted in modest fantasy utility for the 26-year-old in 2014.

Quarless was arrested in Miami on Saturday morning on a charge of discharging a firearm in public, the Miami New Times reports.

According to a police report cited by the Miami New Times, Quarless is accused of firing a gun twice -- once in the air, and once in an unspecified but seemingly target-less direction -- around 5:30 am. The other details are less clear, but the report cites a parking attendant's claim that Quarless fired the gun from his Porsche during a conflict with a group of women in a nearby car. The attendant quoted one of the women as yelling "No, get away, leave me alone," though Quarless is not yet accused of doing anything aside from firing the gun. Still, this is a bizarre incident that could reveal something worse yet, so Quarless' standing with Green Bay could be on notice for now.

Quarless averaged 38.5 receiving yards per game between Weeks 11-14, but his production fell off at the end of the season, and he totaled just 24 receiving yards over the final three games. Fellow tight end Richard Rodgers caught five passes for 40 yards in Sunday's game and seems to be the better bet to produce for those playing in playoff leagues.

The Buccaneers defend opposing tight ends well, and that was again the case against Quarless and the Packers on Sunday. Quarless has a career-high 323 yards this season, but he will enter Week 17 having totaled just three receptions and 24 yards over his last two games.

One week after putting up a season-high 52 receiving yards, Quarless was held to his lowest output since Week 4. It will be difficult to expect much of him in Week 16, particularly facing a Buccaneers defense that has given up just one touchdown to opposing tight ends in its last 10 games.

Quarless caught 3-of-4 targets for 52 yards in Monday's 43-37 win over the Falcons.

Quarless and Richard Rodgers both seem to catch one or two passes each week, and it was Quarless who came out ahead Monday night. Rodgers finished with zero catches on one target, while Quarless recorded his best yardage total of the season. Neither can be counted on for much of anything, heading into a Week 15 contest in Buffalo.
