Wed Mar 18 201509:57LaHair reassigned to Red Sox's minor-league camp Wednesday
LaHair was reassigned to the Red Sox's minor-league camp Wednesday.
After an unsuccessful stint in the minors with the Indians last season, LaHair will likely serve as organizational depth at first base and the corner outfield. The 32-year-old, who was an All-Star with the Cubs back in 2012, figures to open the year at Double-A Portland, should the Red Sox choose to keep him around after the spring.
Thu Jan 29 201519:10LaHair signed minor league contract with Red Sox
LaHair signed a minor league contract with the Red Sox, SB Nation's Chris Cotillo reports.
A surprise All-Star back in 2012, LaHair fell off dramatically in the second half of that season, and he hasn't played in the majors since. He struggled at the Double-A level in 2014, so there's little reason to think he'll help the Red Sox this season.
Mon Mar 24 201413:11Indians reassign LaHair, others to minors
Indians reassigned 1B Bryan LaHair, C Luke Carlin, and 1B David Cooper to minor league camp.
No real surprises among this round of cuts. LaHair needed surgery this offseason on his wrist and didn't really get a chance to prove himself this spring. The 31-year-old could become useful at some point for the Tribe.

Sun Mar 16 201410:37Bryan LaHair (wrist) to make spring debut
Bryan LaHair (wrist) will make his Cactus League debut Sunday.
LaHair has been brought along slowly in camp following offseason wrist surgery. He could still have time to be ready for Opening Day but seems unlikely to crack the roster.

Fri Mar 7 201411:13Bryan LaHair cleared to swing bat
Bryan LaHair (wrist) has been cleared to swing a bat.
LaHair will only play first base in an intrasquad game Friday, but he'll be allowed to swing the bat during an intrasquad game Saturday. Recovering from a left wrist debridement procedure, LaHair could still have time to be ready for Opening Day but seems unlikely to crack the roster.

Mon Feb 17 201420:25Bryan LaHair not cleared to hit yet
Bryan LaHair is not yet cleared to take batting practice after having left wrist debridement surgery in September.
LaHair has been cleared for all other activities and is hitting off a tee as he works his way up to batting practice. Signed to a minor league deal earlier this month, the 31-year-old will almost surely begin the season at Triple-A.

Wed Feb 5 201415:59Indians sign LaHair to minor league deal
Indians signed 1B/OF Bryan LaHair to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
LaHair, a former All-Star in 2012, was released by the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks of Japan's Pacific League last month after he hit just .230/.236/.428 during his lone season in Nippon Professional Baseball. The 31-year-old will compete for a bench job during spring training.

Thu Jan 23 201411:41LaHair released in Japan, now a free agent
The Japanese Softbank Hawks released Bryan LaHair.
The 31-year-old former big-leaguer is now a free agent and could elect to return stateside. LaHair was an MLB All-Star only two years ago, slashing .259/.334/.450 in 2012 while manning first base for the Cubs. Of course, he rode a blazing hot first half onto the roster and fell apart after the All-Star break, causing the Cubs to give up on him last winter. He'll have to settle for a minor league pact.

Bryan LaHair has agreed to a contract with the Softbank Hawks of the Japanese Pacific League.
The deal will pay him $4.5 million over the next two seasons. It's a nice score for LaHair, who was designated for assignment by the Cubs earlier this week and would have made close to the league minimum had he remained in the major leagues. The 30-year-old first baseman batted .259/.334/.450 in 2012.

Wed Oct 3 201217:34Bryan LaHair homers in Cubs' victory
Bryan LaHair homered in the second and singled in the winning run in the ninth as the Cubs edged the Astros 5-4 on Wednesday.
The Cubs salvaged the finale and sent the Astros to their franchise record 107th loss (they lost 106 games last year). LaHair hit his 18th homer today in his first start since Sept. 20 and just his third in a month. He'll likely be traded this winter. An AL team could use him as a platoon first baseman or DH.

Mon Sep 17 201220:53Cubs want Bryan LaHair to play winter ball
Cubs manager Dale Sveum hopes Bryan LaHair will play winter ball again this offseason.
An All-Star this year, LaHair has received just 90 at-bats in the second half and is hitting an ugly .207/.275/.310 since May 16. "For his sake, I think he needs to play winter ball again and get the at-bats he's missed out on and be ready for spring training like he was this year," Sveum said. LaHair might be a trade candidate this winter, as Sveum added that it "goes unsaid" that playing time will be hard to come by for him again in 2013.

Wed Aug 8 201211:07LaHair to be used as bench player
Bryan LaHair will be used as a bench player moving forward.
LaHair was already pushed to right field following the call-up of Anthony Rizzo, but he's bench-bound now that Brett Jackson is up in the big leagues. "It's obviously frustrating. I'm not happy about it," said LaHair, who was named to the National League All-Star team last month. But I'm not going to hold my head down or stop working or do anything like that. I'm just going to stay ready and prepare for the next opportunity I get." LaHair started out red-hot this season, but he's batting just .203 with four home runs, a .578 OPS and a 70/17 K/BB ratio over 194 plate appearances since May 16. He should have been discarded in most mixed leagues already.

Sun Jul 22 201218:05Bryan LaHair has two-hit day
Bryan LaHair went 2-for-4 in Sunday's loss to the Cardinals.
Both hits were singles. LaHair hasn't exactly fallen off the face of the earth since his hot start, but has homered just four times in 37 games since June 1. He's hitting .248 in that timespan. If he's dealt before the July 31 non-waive deadline, it will likely be for spare parts, and to bolster someone's bench.

Thu Jul 5 201210:17Cubs will listen to offers for LaHair
According to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal, the Cubs "will listen" for offers on Bryan LaHair.
LaHair is cost-controlled for the next several years and has been quite productive this season, so the Cubs aren't necessarily going to be pushing him out the door. The 29-year-old is batting .293/.371/.536 with 14 home runs and 12 doubles in 70 games.

Mon Jun 18 201218:33Bryan LaHair starting in right field Monday
Bryan LaHair is starting in right field Monday against the White Sox.
This would seem to indicate that the Cubs are preparing LaHair for the arrival of prospect first baseman Anthony Rizzo. Steve Clevenger is making the start at first base Monday while Tony Campana plays left field and David DeJesus starts in center field. Alfonso Soriano is serving as the DH.
