Tue Sep 1 201518:52Lee designated for assignment on Tuesday
Lee was designated for assignment on Tuesday.
The former top-100 prospect has really fallen off over the past few years, and he should no longer be rostered in the vast majority of dynasty leagues.
Mon Jun 8 201518:33Lee (hand) activated from DL at Triple-A Durham on Monday
Lee (hand) was activated from the DL at Triple-A Durham on Monday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Lee suffered a cut to his hand near the end of May, but he's healed up and figures to return to the lineup within the next couple of days. The 24-year-old is hitting .240/.286/.320 with seven RBI and 10 steals in 36 games (125 at-bats).

Lee gashed his left hand at second base and will be out for a few weeks, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Lee is in his third year of playing at Triple-A Durham, limited in the past by injuries. There's a small chance he could have been a depth option for Tampa Bay as its infield depth is stretched thin by Logan Forsythe's shift to first base to cover James Loney's broken finger. Lee still hasn't played a position other than shortstop in the minors, so it looks his only viable path to the majors this year is only an injury to Asdrubal Cabrera.
Thu Apr 2 201514:45Lee optioned to Triple-A Durham to begin season
Lee has been optioned to Triple-A Durham to begin the season.
The Rays have Asdrubal Cabrera positioned as their starting shortstop to begin the year, though Cabrera is on a one-year contract. Lee could prove to be an option at some point during the season if he shows more at the plate during his time at Triple-A now that he's further removed from major knee surgery in 2013.
Tue Jun 17 201411:41Rays SS prospect Lee with 3 hits, double
Rays shortstop prospect Hak-Ju Lee went 3-for-5 with a double on Monday, raising his season line to .228/.313/.290.
Lee hit well in May, hitting .261/.363/.341 with a 14:15 walk to strikeout ratio, but has stumbled in June, hitting .228/.267/.281 with three walks and 17 strikeouts. He has been inconsistent after missing all of 2013, and his lack of power has allowed pitchers in Double-A and Triple-A to shut him down.

Sat May 31 201409:53Rays prospect SS Lee beginning to heat up
Rays prospect shortstop Hak-Ju Lee went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, and a stolen base on Friday for Triple-A Durham.
Lee is hitting .324/.342/.459 with two doubles, one home run, and three stolen bases over his past nine games, raising his season line to .238/.342/.307. Lee missed a full season, so it could take a while for him to get back to his career line of .287/.363/.384. He is a defense-first shortstop who could hit .280 with 20-plus stolen bases and very little power.

Sun May 11 201410:59Rays SS prospect Lee rips three hits
Rays shortstop prospect Hak-Ju Lee went 3-for-6 with a double on Saturday, raising his season line to .214/.327/.262 for Triple-A Durham.
Through his first 11 games, Lee was hitting just .111/.250/.148, but he is in the midst of a four game hit streak, during which he has hit .400/.471/.467 with his first two stolen bases of the season. It seems that Lee is finally feeling comfortable.

Sun Apr 27 201410:45Rays prospect SS Lee picks up first hit
Rays shortstop prospect Hak-Ju Lee picked up his first hit of season for Triple-A Durham on Saturday.
Lee missed all of last year after tearing ligaments in his knee, and missed the first few weeks of 2014 with a calf strain on the same leg. When he got hurt, he was on the doorstep of the major leagues, ready to become the full time shortstop for the Rays. Since then, the Rays have extended Yunel Escobar, which could either push Lee to a utility role or make him trade bait. He's a great defensive shortstop who could hit .280 with 20-plus doubles and 20-plus stolen bases, so he could bring value no matter where he plays.

Mon Mar 24 201409:44Hak-Ju Lee out 3-4 weeks with strained calf
Hak-Ju Lee has been diagnosed with a left calf strain and will be sidelined for the next 3-4 weeks.
Lee suffered the calf strain on Saturday in Rays camp. It's completely unrelated to the knee injury that cost him the majority of the 2013 season and he should be getting regular playing time in Triple-A by the end of April. Lee, a highly-rated shortstop prospect, is likely to make his major league debut at some point in 2014.

Sun Mar 23 201411:42Rays' SS Lee to undergo MRI on left knee
Hak-Ju Lee will undergo an MRI on his surgically repaired left knee that he tweaked Saturday.
Lee, a top prospect, says he's fine and Rays manager Joe Maddon called the check-up "precautionary." The 23-year-old had surgery to repair torn ligaments in his left knee last April. He'll begin the season on the farm, but could work his way up to Tampa this summer if his game returns quickly from the one-year hiatus.

Sat Mar 22 201416:23Lee alright after tweaking knee Saturday
Hak-Ju Lee is fine after tweaking his surgically repaired knee Saturday.
Lee had surgery to repair torn ligaments in his left knee last April, but he's been in camp with the Rays this spring. The 23-year-old won't break camp with the team, but he could find himself in Tampa sometime this summer. Rays manager Joe Maddon said Saturday's incident isn't considered to be anything serious, so he may just get a few days off.

Sun Feb 23 201422:13Hak-Ju Lee impressing early on in Rays camp
Rays manager Joe Maddon noted Sunday that he's been impressed by Hak-Ju Lee thus far in spring camp.
The 23-year-old shortstop is working his way back from surgery to repair torn ligaments in his left knee, which limited him to only 15 games at Triple-A Durham in 2013. One of the top prospects in baseball, Lee should debut with the Rays at some point in 2014.

Mon Apr 22 201316:26Rays' Lee (knee) likely headed for surgery
Rays prospect infielder Hak-Ju Lee will likely require season-ending surgery on his left knee.
Lee suffered torn ligaments in his knee Saturday during a collision at second base. He's in Port Charlotte on Monday and will soon meet with team physician Dr. Koco Eaton, but surgery is the expected outcome. It's too bad, as the 22-year-old appeared on track to make his major league debut later this year. Now it will have to wait.

Sat Apr 20 201322:42Hak-Ju Lee suffers torn left knee ligaments
Rays prospect Hak-Ju Lee suffered torn ligaments in his left knee Saturday in a game at Triple-A Durham.
The young shortstop is unlikely to return this season, according to Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times. It's a tough blow for Lee, who was hitting .419 through Durham's first 14 games. He is one of the Rays' top prospects, and it's only a matter of time before his defense gets him to the major leagues. Unfortunately, that debut will now likely be delayed until 2014.

Acquired from the Cubs in the Matt Garza deal, Lee batted .261/.336/.360 with four home runs, 37 RBI, 37 stolen bases and a .696 OPS in Double-A last season. The Rays view him as their shortstop of the future, but he figures to spend most of 2013 at the Triple-A level.

Tue Nov 20 201223:13Hak-Ju Lee added to 40-man roster
Rays purchased the contract of SS Hak-Ju Lee from Double-A Montgomery.
He's now on the 40-man roster. The Rays love Lee's defense, but he's yet to progress with the bat as hoped, having put up a disappointing .261/.336/.360 batting line with four homers and 37 steals at Double-A.

Tue Apr 5 201112:24Rays' Hak-Ju Lee has chicken pox
Rays prospect Hak-Ju Lee has been placed on the Single-A disabled list due to chicken pox.
Lee will miss the next couple of weeks while he recovers. Acquired in this winter's Matt Garza trade, he batted .282 with a .354 on-base percentage in the minors last season and projects as a potential major league starting shortstop. He will open 2011 at Single-A Charlotte.

Sat Jan 8 201117:57Rays acquire shortstop Lee
Shortstop Hak-Ju Lee was sent from the Cubs to the Rays in the Matt Garza deal.
Starlin Castro made Lee expendable in Chicago, but the 20-year-old projects as a fine starting starting shortstop. He hit .282/.354/.361 in low-A ball last year, and some power should come with age. He's not going to help the Rays before 2013, but he might be the most valuable player to come out of this deal.
