Thu Nov 29 201212:19Troy Murphy will be waived for Derek Fisher
The Mavericks will waive Troy Murphy to make room for Derek Fisher on the roster, a source tells ESPN Dallas.
Murphy's contract was not guaranteed so the move makes sense. Murphy will look to latch on with another team after his brief tenure in Dallas.

Thu Nov 29 201208:48Report: Troy Murphy could be cut for Fisher
Troy Murphy could be the "odd man out" with the signing of Derek Fisher.
The Mavs will have to make a roster move to accommodate Fisher on the team, and with Murphy on a non-guaranteed deal, he could be shown the door.

Sat Nov 24 201223:26Troy Murphy returns from illness on Sat.
Troy Murphy (respiratory infection) played vs. the Lakers but went scoreless with just two rebounds in 14 minutes.
Murphy's defense is a known weakness and the Lakers' frontcourt would chew him up, whether or not he was slowed by his illness. He played under 18 minutes in one start this year for the Mavs and obviously isn't a fantasy asset in standard leagues.

Fri Nov 23 201213:44Troy Murphy missed Friday practice w/ illness
Troy Murphy missed Friday's practice with an upper respiratory illness, but he's expected to go through shootaround on Saturday.
The Mavs play the Lakers on Saturday, and it sounds like Murphy will be available. Owners in 12-14 team formats with Murphy on the roster should check back for another update before Saturday's game. Elton Brand's minutes would increase if Murphy can't play.

Wed Nov 21 201221:44Troy Murphy out for game with illness
Troy Murphy (illness) will not return to Wednesday's game due to an upper respiratory illness.
He got the start tonight and will exit with two points and five boards. He's only worth owning in 12- and 14-team leagues for owners that need threes and this news could help Elton Brand revive his seemingly dead fantasy value.

Wed Nov 21 201220:42Troy Murphy starts Wednesday, Brand to bench
Troy Murphy will start at power forward for the Mavericks against the Knicks on Wednesday.
"Murphy's doing what we got him to do," coach Rick Carlisle said. "That is to rebound and stretch the floor for us." Murphy is coming off a 12-point night on Monday and hit four triples. Meanwhile, Elton Brand has been a letdown with career lows in points and rebounds so far this year. Brand is on the chopping block and we'd consider Murphy as a speculative add in 12- or 14-team leagues for owners looking to increase their 3-point production.

Tue Nov 20 201202:53Murphy hits four threes in loss to Warriors
Troy Murphy hit four 3-point buckets in Monday's overtime loss, finishing with 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting overall, four rebounds, four steals, and two blocks in 24 minutes.
This comes against the lax defense of the Warriors, so owners should keep that in mind as they evaluate. But with a decent eight-point, seven-rebound line that included two threes on Saturday, this didn't come out of nowhere. In a deep league, give him a look if you need threes.

Sat Nov 10 201223:17Murphy plays 30 minutes and scores 8
Troy Murphy played 30 minutes off the bench and scored eight points, adding seven rebound and two threes in Saturday's defeat to the Bobcats.
He previous season high was 19 minutes, so the double-digit increase is something worth keeping an eye on. The two triples make him an alluring target in deeper leagues, but he'll need to string together a couple nice games to warrant consideration in standard formats.

Sun Nov 4 201203:40Troy Murphy makes his Mavericks debut
Troy Murphy made his Mavericks debut on Saturday, grabbing five rebounds without any shot attempts in nine minutes.
"I did things to try and stay in shape," Murphy said, referring to a lack of training camp or preseason work. "I haven't practiced. But I've been running at the local health club. I don't know if that translates real well." Mark Cuban explained that as opposed to Eddy Curry, Murphy can "spread the court and open things up for O.J. [Mayo] and Darren [Collison]."

Thu Nov 1 201220:02Troy Murphy signs with the Dallas Mavericks
The Mavericks and Troy Murphy have agreed to a one-year deal.
This is another sign that indicates how worried Dallas might be about their health concerns in the frontcourt. Murphy doesn't really have value just yet, but since he shoots the three, he could emerge as a very deep league asset. Don't hold your breath, though.

Sat Aug 4 201210:17Troy Murphy turns down Real Madrid offer
Troy Murphy turned down a recent offer from Real Madrid, reportedly saying that he wants to stay in the NBA.
Murphy's stock has declined precipitously in recent seasons, but when healthy he still has value as a floor-stretching PF with a nose for rebounds.

Wed May 23 201215:32Lakers aren't expected to re-sign Troy Murphy
The Lakers aren't expected to re-sign Troy Murphy next season.
Injuries have derailed Murphy's career in recent years, morphing him from a double-double machine with deadly 3-point range into a middling backup big man whose defensive flaws make him a liability.

Fri Jan 13 201207:48Troy Murphy expected to return on Friday

Wed Jan 11 201215:07Troy Murphy out w/ gastroenteritis
Troy Murphy (gastroenteritis) is out again on Wednesday.

Sat Dec 31 201117:58Troy Murphy scoreless off Lakers' bench
Troy Murphy was scoreless in six minutes off the Lakers' bench on Saturday.
The writing was on the wall for Murphy as soon as Bynum's suspension ended. He's a useful big man to have lurking on the depth chart, but isn't likely to carve out a much bigger role than this.

Fri Dec 30 201103:43Murphy heading back to the bench
Troy Murphy scored four points on 2-of-4 shooting with seven rebounds, three assists, and a steal with 22 minutes off the bench on Thursday.
With Andrew Bynum set to be back Murphy is 'done' as beat writer Kevin Ding put it, so if you're in a really deep format relying on him it's time to look elsewhere. Overall, Murphy at least showed he still belongs in the league.

Wed Dec 28 201102:52Murphy grabs 11 rebounds in Lakers win
Troy Murphy did not score on three shot attempts on Tuesday, but did grab 11 rebounds with four assists in 31 minutes off the bench.
Murphy saw extra playing time with the game in hand by halftime, and unlike last season he is showing mild symptoms of having a basketball career. Unfortunately, he's third in the pecking order at PF behind Josh McRoberts (toe, thumb) and Pau Gasol (shoulder).
