Panthers G Chris Scott had to leave Wednesday's OTA 20 minutes early due to fatigue from the heat.
Scott was running with the first-stringers at right guard, but not being in shape isn't a great way to win a job. Scott has battled weight issues throughout his career and struggled with conditioning when the Panthers gave him a look last summer.

New Panthers G Chris Scott reportedly to Bills camp at 360 pounds two weeks ago.
Scott was cut by the Bills for failing his conditioning test. On Monday, he had to be carted off the field at Panthers practice due to dehydration and was taken for an IV. Scott has a ways to go to get in game shape.

Scott couldn't pass his conditioning test in Buffalo and was cut loose by no-nonsense coach Doug Marrone. Carolina is needy at right guard, but Scott is unlikely to be anything more than a short-term solution, if he's even that.

Coach Doug Marrone says Scott failed his pre-camp conditioning test. Entering his fourth season, Scott was working as the team's starting left guard in OTAs. Doug Legursky and Colin Brown will now battle for the job.

The Bills' quest to replace Andy Levitre isn't going to be pretty. Scott is former fifth-round pick that has spent most of the last two seasons on practice squads. Sam Young and Colin Brown are also expected to get a chance with the starters at left guard.

A fifth-round pick, Scott has yet to play this season while recovering from foot surgery. The Steelers evidently think he's now healthy enough to provide depth on a line that has lost both Max Starks and Willie Colon to season-ending injuries.

The injury that forced Steelers rookie OL Chris Scott to undergo surgery Wednesday was a fractured foot.
He's expected to miss the entirety of camp and preseason, making him a candidate to open 2010 on the PUP list. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette doesn't expect Scott back until "October at the earliest." While the Steelers are usually frugal in free agency, they're going to have to make a move at some point.

Steelers fifth-round OL Chris Scott missed this week's Rookie Symposium to undergo foot surgery.
It's yet another blow to a Pittsburgh offensive line that's thinning quickly. The extent of Scott's foot injury hasn't been revealed, but we can't imagine he'll practice early in training camp. I.R. isn't being discussed yet.

Three 2010 draft picks are missing from this year's Rookie Symposium -- Steelers OT Chris Scott, Colts CB Kevin Thomas, and Giants S Chad Jones.
Jones (fractured tibia, fibula) and Thomas (torn ACL) have legitimate excuses, as they're coming off major surgeries. Scott's absence was excused, but the reason is unknown. He was a fifth-round pick this April.
