Macklin was waived by the Pelicans on Thursday.

Macklin played with the Magic's Summer League team recently and hoped to make the Pelicans' roster during training camp, but now he'll hit the open market and explore alternative options for this fall.

Macklin has agreed to a non-guaranteed contract with the New Orleans Pelicans, RealGM reports.

In his lone NBA season�back in 2011-12 with the Detroit Pistons�Macklin played sparingly, appearing in just 23 games and playing shy of six minutes per contest. He'll face an uphill battle to secure a roster spot in New Orleans.
