Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish reports that Chris Robinson has retired from professional baseball.
The 29-year-old backstop appeared cracked a Major League roster for the first time in 2013, appearing in eight games with the Padres where he had two hits, including a homer, in 12 at-bats. In nine minor league season he slashed a respectable .276/.320/.355 with 12 homers in 634 games.

Padres sent C Chris Robinson outright to Triple-A Tuscon.
The 29-year-old catcher was designated for assignment last week to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Everth Cabrera. After going unclaimed on waivers, he'll return to serve as organizational depth for the Padres. In 68 games at Triple-A, Robinson slashed .282/.307/.320 with no homers, 22 RBI and a 42/7 K/BB ratio.
