Coleman cleared waivers and accepted his outright assignment to Triple-A Omaha.
The right-hander turned in a 2.15 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in 34 appearances (67 innings) with Omaha last season, but it wasn't enough to save his spot on the 40-man roster, as the Royals bumped him in favor of Yohan Pino last week. Coleman has never been able to miss bats at a high clip (6.1 K/9 in the minors) and his struggles at the major league level (5.72) may preclude him from getting a chance in the Royals' stacked bullpen in 2015.

Coleman was designated for assignment by the Royals on Monday, Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports reports.
Coleman was the resulting casualty of the Royals signing Yohan Pino to fill the void in the starting rotation. The resulting move will send him to the minors if he goes unclaimed, though he could still end up in Royals' spring training as a non-roster invitee.

Coleman is expected to travel to St. Louis in case the newly-claimed Justin Germano can't make it in time for Friday's game. Tue May 29 201211:56Coleman in save mix for Cubbies
Cubs manager Dale Sveum said that he would have used Casey Coleman in a save situation Monday against the Padres.
That means we can add him into the mix with James Russell and Shawn Camp for save chances. Coleman has allowed three runs in 10 innings of work with the Cubs this season, but has an ugly 5.29 ERA over 151 1/3 innings in the big leagues. It's not the best situation for fantasy owners and we wouldn't be surprised if Carlos Marmol ultimately wins his job back.
