Mets released LHP Casey Fossum.
Fossum was reportedly considering retirement during the middle of last season, though it's not clear if he's made up his mind one way or another. He just turned 34 but hasn't pitched in a major league game since 2009 and has been unsuccessful at the minor league level the last two years.

Fri May 27 201119:10Veteran Fossum lands on restricted list
Mets placed LHP Casey Fossum on the restricted list.
Currently pitching for Triple-A Buffalo, Fossum is apparently pondering retirement. Now 33, Fossum last appeared in the big leagues in 2009, and is the owner of an 0-4 record and 6.56 ERA through nine games (six starts) for the Bisons. It would certainly appear that he's at the end of the line.
