Sat Jun 16 201217:23Pape Sy expected to play in Summer League
Pape Sy is expected to play for the Hawks during Summer League.
Sy is built like an NBA swingman (6'6", 210 lbs) but he plays like a combo guard and has limited offensive skills. He struggled in both the D-League and France last season and we don't expect him to make the Hawks' regular season roster. Their decision to draft him No. 53 overall in 2010 was odd, and their decision to buy out his French contract and sign him in 2011 was downright inexplicable.

Tue Jan 3 201208:58Pape Sy on his way back to France
Pape Sy is on his way back to France and will sign with Gravelines-Dunkerque.
This was an expected move and Sy will return to playing professionally in France. It's possible he could earn himself a training camp invite next year if he shows out well.

Wed Dec 28 201112:14Pape Sy likely to return to his French team
Pape Sy will return to his French team if he doesn't get a contract in the NBA by January 13.
Sy was waived by Atlanta just before the season began and hasn't garnered much interest on the open market yet. He'll wait to see if an injury opens an opportunity with another club, but it sounds like he's headed back to France at this time.

Fri Dec 9 201120:26Pape Sy suddenly No. 2 PG for Hawks
Pape Sy, who was last seen playing in France, is back with the Hawks and will likely be Shawn Teague's back up at point guard while Kirk Hinrich is injured.
Sy is unproven and a longshot to have any fantasy value. But if Teague somehow struggles, he could get some run. Just keep an eye on him early in the season.

Fri Aug 26 201109:12Pape Sy agrees to deal w/ French team
Former Hawks forward Pape Sy has reportedly agreed to a deal with the French team BCM Gravelines.
Sy, a French citizen, was the 53rd pick in the 2010 draft. He bounced between the NBA and the D-League for a while and never managed to earn a steady role in Atlanta. His departure is hardly a blip on the radar, even during these lean times for NBA news.

Wed Mar 2 201111:53Sy back with Hawks
Hawks recalled G/F Pape Sy from the NBADL.
Sy will be with the Hawks for the rest of the season. The raw project from France is a poor bet to crack the rotation.

Mon Dec 27 201012:48Hawks sent Sy down to D-League
The Hawks have assigned guard Pape Sy to the Utah Flash in the D-League.
Sy hasn't set foot on the court during a game for Atlanta, and will get some much-needed experience playing in the D-League.
Tue Dec 21 201009:49Sy may head to D-League
Pape Sy could be sent to the NBADL soon, according to coach Larry Drew.
Sy is a raw prospect from France that needs minutes. The second-round pick is yet to appear in a game this season.

Tue Oct 26 201009:43Sy gets back in practice
Haws G Pape Sy (back) worked out on the court Monday for the first time since the start of camp.
Sy is a major project that won't be part of the Hawks' rotation this year. He could eventually have a role down the line if Jamal Crawford is allowed to walk in free agency.

Mon Oct 18 201023:10Sy still doesn't know when he'll practice
Pape Sy, who has been out since the beginning of training camp with a back injury, said he still doesn't know when he'll return to practice.
"It's sore," he said. "It's getting better." He's buried on the depth chart and could have a future in the league, it just won't be this year. He should not be rostered in any re-draft leagues.

Wed Sep 15 201013:40Hawks officially sign Pape Sy
The Hawks announced Wednesday that they have officially signed Pape Sy.
Sy is a promising defensive player, but it's unlikely that he'll see anything resembling significant playing time this season. As a result, he can safely be ignored for the upcoming season, even in deep fantasy leagues.

Tue Aug 31 201010:15Hawks reach buyout for Sy
The Hawks have finally reached a buyout agreement with French club Le Havre for Pape Sy.
Sy, 22, was the No. 53 overall pick in June's draft. Although he's not an immediate threat to Jamal Crawford's leverage, Sy projects as a shooting guard off the bench. He'll be a developmental player this season.
