Sun Jul 20 201418:23Marlins sign Dustin Moseley to minors deal
Marlins signed RHP Dustin Moseley to a minor league contract.
The veteran right-hander missed the entire 2013 season and all of 2014 thus far due to recurring shoulder problems. He hasn't pitched in the big leagues since the 2012 season when he was a member of the Padres. He'll try to regain his form in the minor leagues.

Thu Apr 19 201219:51Moseley likely needs shoulder surgery
Dustin Moseley conceded Thursday that shoulder surgery is probably his "only option."
Moseley was placed on the disabled list earlier this month with a strained right shoulder. An MRI revealed extensive damage, affecting the rotator cuff and labrum. It's not clear when he'll make a final decision on surgery, but it would almost certainly put the rest of the season at risk.

Tue Apr 10 201219:17Dustin Moseley to miss more than 15 days
Padres manager Bud Black said Dustin Moseley (shoulder) is expected to spend more than 15 days on the disabled list.
Black didn't elaborate more than that, but Dan Hayes of the North County Times said the MRI on Moseley's shoulder "didn't sound good." We'll update his condition when more is known. Anthony Bass will take Moseley's spot in the rotation on Thursday, and it sounds like he could remain there for a while.

Sun Apr 8 201213:33Dustin Moseley (shoulder) placed on DL
Padres placed RHP Dustin Moseley on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right shoulder.
This one came out of nowhere, as we weren't aware of any shoulder issues Moseley had this spring. He had surgery on his non-throwing shoulder last August. We'll update his status when more is known, but you'd have to think he'll probably need more than the minimum 15 days on the DL. Moseley had been slated to make his first start on Thursday, but now Anthony Bass or Micah Owings will probably get that assignment.

Sun Apr 8 201200:47Dustin Moseley gives up five runs to Dodgers
Dustin Moseley gave up five runs in five innings Saturday in a no-decision versus the Dodgers.
Moseley was a nice surprise with a 3.30 ERA last year, though it resulted in a 3-10 record in his 20 starts. At best, he's only worth using in NL-only leagues in his Petco starts, and Petco didn't do him too much good tonight.

Sat Mar 31 201201:34Moseley goes five innings Friday vs. Giants
Dustin Moseley gave up seven runs (four earned) over five innings Friday night against the Giants.
All seven runs scored in the fifth inning. Moseley allowed nine hits (including a three-run homer by Palbo Sandoval) while fanning two and walking two. This was the first time he has allowed more than two earned runs in a start this spring. The 30-year-old right-hander had a 3.30 ERA over 20 starts last season, but he's not worth owning outside of NL-only formats.

Thu Mar 15 201218:15Dustin Moseley looks good Thursday
Dustin Moseley held the Brewers to one run on four hits over four innings of work Thursday.
He recorded a pair of strikeouts. Moseley wasn't so good in his first spring outing, but he's now given up just one run over his last seven frames while sporting a 5/0 K/BB ratio. He posted a 3.30 ERA and 64/36 K/BB ratio over 120 innings last season and could be a decent plug-and-play fantasy option for home starts.

Tue Feb 21 201223:41Moseley (shoulder) takes swings off tee
Dustin Moseley took swings off a tee Tuesday for the first time since undergoing surgery on his left (non-throwing) shoulder last August.
Moseley admitted that he was tense during Tuesday's hitting session, which is understandable since he had the surgery after dislocating his shoulder on a swing last year. With that in mind, the Padres plan to bring him along slowly before he hits in a game. The good news is that throwing obviously isn't an issue. Moseley, 31, posted a 3.30 ERA and 64/36 K/BB ratio over 120 innings last season and projects to open 2012 in the Padres' starting rotation.

Tue Jan 31 201218:51Padres, Moseley avoid arb. with 1-yr deal
Padres and RHP Dustin Moseley avoided arbitration by agreeing on a one-year contract.
No word on the contract terms. Moseley requested $2.55 million and was offered $1.5 million when arbitration figures were exchanged earlier this month. The 31-year-old right-hander posted a 3.30 ERA and 64/36 K/BB ratio over 120 innings last season and projects to open 2012 in the Padres' starting rotation.

Tue Jan 17 201223:44Moseley requests $2.55M from Padres
Dustin Moseley requested $2.55 million and was offered $1.5 million by the Padres when arbitration figures were exchanged Tuesday.
That's a pretty sizable gap and he'd be hard-pressed to be awarded that salary in a hearing, so we expect he'll eventually lower his demands. Moseley, who is arbitration-eligible for the second time this winter, earned $900,000 while posting a 3.30 ERA and 64/36 K/BB ratio over 120 innings in 2011.

Tue Dec 6 201115:54Report: Moseley a non-tender candidate
Dustin Moseley is a possible non-tender candidate for San Diego, according to ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick.
Moseley underwent season-ending surgery on his left (non-throwing) shoulder in August. At the time, Padres manager Bud Black indicated a desire to bring him back. "He's a steady, dependable starting pitcher," Black said. "He's been steady with a good ERA, internal numbers are solid. He made a great showing." Moseley, who turns 30 this month, finished 2011 with career bests in ERA (3.30) and WHIP (1.28) in 120 innings. However, poor run support led to a 3-10 record, as the Padres scored one or fewer runs in half of his 20 starts.

Wed Aug 31 201114:03Padres option RHP Moseley to 60-day DL
Padres transferred RHP Dustin Moseley from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.
He was moved in order to make room for newly-recalled right-hander Brad Brach on the active roster. Moseley underwent season-ending surgery on his left (non-throwing) shoulder earlier this month. He will be a free agent this winter.

Wed Aug 3 201121:37Dustin Moseley has season-ending surgery
Dustin Moseley underwent season-ending surgery on his left (non-throwing) shoulder Wednesday.
As expected. Moseley dislocated the shoulder a number of times this season and while he initially wanted to try to pitch through the pain, the decision was made to go ahead with the procedure. The right-hander will be a free agent this winter, but Padres manager Bud Black indicated a desire to bring him back. "He's a steady, dependable starting pitcher," Black said. "He's been steady with a good ERA, internal numbers are solid. He made a great showing."

Wed Aug 3 201102:24Dustin Moseley to have season-ending surgery
The San Diego Union-Tribune is reporting that Dustin Moseley will have season-ending surgery to repair his left (non-pitching) shoulder.
The surgery ideally will prevent future dislocations in that shoulder. Moseley, who will turn 30 in December, finishes 2011 with career bests in ERA (3.30) and WHIP (1.28) in 120 innings. However, poor run support led to a 3-10 record, as the Padres scored one or fewer runs in half of his 20 starts. Moseley is not signed beyond this season, but his next contract likely will be higher than his current $900,000 salary.

Sun Jul 31 201113:22Dustin Moseley lands on DL
Padres placed RHP Dustin Moseley on the 15-day disabled list with a left shoulder strain.
It's not clear at this point how long he might be out, but Moseley will have to undergo surgery eventually. He was hoping to delay it until the offseason, but it's possible he'll go ahead and have the procedure if he doesn't see improvement soon. Wade LeBlanc will take his spot in the rotation.

Wed Jul 27 201119:51Dustin Moseley to have offseason surgery
Dustin Moseley will undergo offseason surgery to repair a dislocated left shoulder, torn labrum and stretched capsule.
Moseley dislocated his shoulder last month and aggravated the injury during his last outing. He'll attempt to pitch through the ailment for now and get cut on over the offseason, though if he hurts it again, he'll probably get operated on right away.

Wed Jul 27 201108:53Moseley aggravates non-throwing shoulder
Dustin Moseley is expected to make his next start after aggravating his left (non-throwing) shoulder on Tuesday night.
Moseley hurt the shoulder in the third inning on a swing that resulted in a single to right field. He fell to the ground in pain, but eventually ran to first base and managed to pitch seven innings before leaving the game. "This time it popped right back in," said Padres manager Bud Black. "I was real close to taking him out. He buckles at home plate and 45 seconds later he's fine." Moseley injured the same shoulder taking a swing on June 8, but avoided a trip to the disabled list and was able to make a start 11 days later. A postgame examination determined that Moseley's shoulder strength was fine, so it doesn't sound like he'll need to miss any time.
