However, in that last at-bat, he rocketed a ball down the right-field line that might have been a two-run, score-tying triple had it gone fair.

The Pirates will use Lombardozzi's versatility around the diamond and call upon him as a frequent pinch-hitter. Only a series of injuries would boost the utilityman's playing time. He holds a career line of .266/.297/.340 in 779 major-league at-bats.

Manny Machado's absence afforded Lombardozzi a chance at semi-regular playing time to start the season, and he hit .292 in 72 at-bats in April, but then saw just a mere one at-bat after the calendar turned to May. His numbers in a larger sample at Triple-A Norfolk left a lot to be desired (.270/.307/.311) and the 26-year-old will likely serve as little more than a last-ditch utility option with his new club.

The 26-year-old utility player only posted a .297 OBP in 74 plate appearances with the O's last season before getting demoted to Triple-A. He doesn't hit for much power or steal many bases, so in order for him to be a useful fantasy option in deeper leagues, he needs to play every day and it does not seem like that will happen in Baltimore anytime soon.
