Williams (hip) has been ruled out for Saturday's preseason opener against the Magic.
Williams is a fringe player for the Hornets, and he'll likely be on the bubble when rosters need to be trimmed down prior to the regular season. This hip ailment certainly doesn't help his chances of making an impact early in the exhibition season.
Thu Oct 1 201517:32Williams missed Thursday's practice with hip injury
Williams missed Thursday's practice with a hip injury, Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer reports.
Williams has a first-round pedigree as a former No. 22 overall selection by the Trail Blazers in 2010, but injuries have dogged him at seemingly every turn throughout his time in the pros. He missed most of his first three seasons in the league with knee, shoulder, and Achilles injuries, and has since become an NBA nomad in recent years, spending time with the Jazz, Pelicans, and Hornets in 2014-15. He'll attempt to shake off this latest setback in quick fashion to showcase his game during the preseason, but even in a best-case scenario, Williams is probably looking at a deep bench role on an improved Charlotte roster.

Williams will sign a contract with the Hornets, Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer reports.
Williams played just 13 games during the 2014-15 NBA regular season, splitting time with both the Jazz and Pelicans on separate 10-day contracts. He spent the majority of his time in the D-League with Santa Cruz, where he played in 29 games and finished with averages of 21.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 7.4 assists and 1.2 steals over 36 minutes per game. He'll now participate in training camp with the Hornets, although Williams isn't guaranteed a spot on the final roster and may not make the team. He'll offer training camp depth at shooting guard behind the likes of Nicolas Batum, Jeremy Lamb, Jeremy Lin and P.J. Hairston.

Williams has been released by the Pelicans upon the expiration of his second 10-day contract, Darrell J. Williams of the New Orleans Advocate reports.
The Pelicans decided to use their final roster spot to sign Toney Douglas, as opposed to keeping Williams around for the remainder of the season. Williams is averaging just 2.8 points and 0.9 assists over nine minutes per game this season.

Tue Feb 10 201513:27Williams waived by Hornets on Tuesday

The Hornets swapped Gary Neal and a second-rounder for Mo Williams and Troy Daniels on Tuesday, meaning a roster spot needed to be opened up. Williams, who was on a 10-day deal, is the casualty, and he'll likely return to the D-League. Williams did not appear in a game with the Hornets after making five appearances for the Jazz earlier in the season.

Williams will be let go by the Jazz after the completion of Monday's game against the Celtics, making him a free agent, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports.

Williams registered 10 points (3-4 FG, 3-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), one rebound, and three assists during his 13 minutes off the bench against the Cavaliers on Wednesday.
Williams is currently on his second 10-day contract with the Jazz and has been given four opportunities on the court to display his efforts. Wednesday's outing was his best thus far and could certainly earn him some playing time against the Bucks on Thursday. That being said, his value won't likely be vaulted to the point where he's worth the addition in most leagues, even if the Jazz lock him up for the rest of the season.
Sat Jan 17 201512:07Williams signed to second 10-day contract with Jazz on Saturday
Williams was signed to a second 10-day contract with the Jazz on Saturday.
Williams has played in three games for the Jazz and is averaging 2.7 points and 0.7 rebounds over 8.7 minutes on the court. He most notably had a disappointing three-point outing against the Rockets on Jan. 10 where he was afforded 21 minutes of playing time. Even if the Jazz decide to lock up Williams long term, it would be surprising if the 25-year-old amounted to more than emergency depth off the bench.

Williams finished with five points (2-2 FG, 1-1 3Pt) in two minutes Wednesday against the Bulls.
Williams was brought in Tuesday, on a 10-day contract. He hasd yet to play in the NBA this year until he was given two minutes in Wednesday's blow out win of the Chicago Bulls. Williams was signed to provide depth and is not likely to see much playing time. The fact that the Jazz were up so much on the Bulls is probably why he played at all.
Tue Jan 6 201513:12Williams expected to sign 10-day deal with Jazz
Williams is expected to sign a 10-day deal with the Jazz, Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports reports.
The current Santa Cruz Warriors guard is in Salt Lake City taking a physical Tuesday, so if he passes that he'll likely join the Jazz immediately. The former Duke standout has appeared in 16 D-League games this season, averaging 21.3 points, 7.8 assists and 4.1 rebounds. He'll primarily provide perimeter depth and isn't likely to be a significant fantasy contributor.

Williams was drafted second overall by the Santa Cruz Warriors in the 2014 D-League Draft.
Williams spent the preseason with the 76ers but was ultimately waived before the start of the regular season. He will be a prime candidate for a 10-day contract in the NBA at some point over the course of the season as teams deal with the injury bug.
Mon Oct 27 201417:32Williams waived by Sixers on Monday
Williams was waived by the Sixers on Monday, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports.
Williams, who saw time in 67 games last season, was competing for a bench role in training camp but apparently did not show enough to prove he's worth a spot on the final, 15-man roster. The Duke product will look to catch on with another team and could end up in the D-League.
Mon Feb 24 201422:37Williams plays 17 minutes off the bench
Elliot Williams logged 17 minutes off the bench on Monday, scoring just two points with one rebound off the bench.
It was erroneously reported that Williams would be starting and he ended up coming off the bench. He has some low-end talent but we need to see him do something before he can be considered for watch lists in most regular formats.

Mon Feb 24 201418:23Sixers rolling with the same starting lineup
The Sixers will start Michael Carter-Williams, Elliot Williams, James Anderson, Thaddeus Young and Arnett Moultrie vs. the Bucks on Monday.
Most of the time we wouldn't post a duplicated lineup, but the Sixers are such a mess that we'd just pass along the info. Tony Wroten should act as the sixth man and will have our attention along with Byron Mullens.

Fri Feb 21 201422:50Elliot Williams scores 10 in start
Elliot Williams scored 10 points with four assists, three steals and one 3-pointer in 27 minutes.
He did a solid job while Hollis Thompson was down with an ankle injury and got the start tonight. The Sixers had to shift around a lot of guys tonight, so Williams is unlikely to see 27 minutes often. Hes's only worth a look in deep leagues.
