Nationals recalled 1B-OF Chris Marrero from Triple-A Syracuse.
The Nats' former top prospect, Marrero has had a nice year for Syracuse, batting .300/.375/.449 with 14 homers and 69 RBI. His defense at first base has also gotten better, and that's where Marrero will be when he gets playing time, pushing Mike Morse to left field. It's possible he could get enough at-bats to warrant consideration in NL-only leagues.

Fri Nov 19 201020:30Nats add Marrero to 40-man roster
Nationals purchased the contract of 1B/OF Chris Marrero from Double-A Harrisburg.

Although he doesn't draw many walks and strikes out a lot, Marrero has plus raw power and is likely the team's long-term solution at first base. The 22-year-old will likely begin the season at Triple-A and could be promoted to the big leagues at some point in 2011.
