Luis Jimenez hit a couple of two-run homers Sunday against the Twins.
Jimenez was signed to a minor league contract as first base-DH depth back in December. As a left-handed bat, he doesn't make much sense for the Jays roster which would be better off with a right-handed complement to Adam Lind. He'll likely spend most of the year in Triple-A.

Blue Jays signed 1B/DH Luis Jimenez to a minor league contract.
The deal includes a spring training invite. Jimenez played primarily with the Mariners' Triple-A affiliate this past season, but went 1-for-17 in seven games after getting his first call-up to the big leagues in September. The 30-year-old figures to function as organizational depth in 2013.

Jimenez, 23, batted .290/.335/.486 with 18 home runs, 94 RBI and an .821 OPS over 541 plate appearances at the Double-A level this season. He hasn't drawn many walks in the minors, but could have a future with the big club.

Luis Jimenez smacked his 13th homer of the season for Double-A Arkansas on Tuesday.
Jimenez owns an eight-game hitting streak, during which he's batting 14-for-33 (.424) with two home runs and nine RBI. Overall, he's hitting .302/.349/.524 this season and could be in line for a Triple-A stint before long.
