Stiemsma signed a one-year, $1.02 million contract with the Magic on Thursday.
The 6-foot-11 Stiemsma has bounced around the league throughout his career, logging 203 appearances with the Celtics, Timberwolves, Pelicans, and Raptors across the last four seasons. He'll aim to carve out a bench role with his new organization, but isn't expected to do much more than serve as a rim protector when he sees the floor. Stiemsma will compete with Jason Smith, Dewayne Dedmon, and Andrew Nicholson for the top backup job behind Nikola Vucevic.

Stiemsma averaged 0.8 points (75% FG, 0% 3Pt, 50% FT), 0.9 rebounds, 0.2 assists, and 0.1 steals in four minutes per game during 17 regular season games in 2014-15.
In one playoff game versus the Wizards, Stiemsma scored five points (2-2 FG, 1-2 FT) in two minutes of action. The 29-year-old center is an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Stiemsma scored two points with a rebound in seven minutes of court time off the bench Friday.
What little run he gets in Toronto comes in garbage time, and Stiemsma isn't likely to get a bigger share of the Raptors' frontcourt minutes any time soon. Leave him on your waiver wire.

Stiemsma saw his first game action of the season Tuesday, scoring four points with three rebounds, an assist and a steal along with five fouls in 13 minutes.
Jonas Valanciunas got smacked in the face Tuesday and will be a game-time decision for Wednesday's game in Boston, so Stiemsma stands a decent chance of seeing some more action off the bench. Don't expect useful fantasy numbers from him, though.

Stiemsma (ankle) is expected to play in Saturday's game against the Magic, TSN Sports reports.
Stiemsma has been dealing with a minor ankle injury over the last couple of days that forced him to miss the season opener against the Hawks. Even though he's expected to play Saturday, the 29-year-old is buried on the depth chart and won't likely see much time on the court.

Stiemsma (ankle) will not play in Wednesday's season opener against the Hawks, TSN Sports reports.
Stiemsma reportedly turned an ankle recently, so he'll be inactive for Wednesday's season opener. As a result, Lucas Nogueira stands an outside chance to see some spare playing time against his former team.
Sun Oct 12 201413:08Stiemsma cleared return to practice after suffering concussion
Stiemsma has been cleared return to practice after suffering a concussion, Josh Lewenberg of TSN reports.
Stiemsma suffered the during practice, but has quickly been cleared to resume activity. His fantasy value should not be affected by this injury as it looks like he has healed.

Stiemsma (concussion) didn't pass the baseline testing for his concussion and won't play Friday, Mark Murphy of the Boston Herald reports.
Stiemsma sat out Thursday's practice because of the concussion, and will miss Friday's contest as a result. The injury shouldn't cause him to miss any regular season time, and he is expected to contribute off the bench for the Raptors this season.
Thu Oct 9 201413:41Stiemsma sat out Thursday's practice with possible concussion
Stiemsma sat out Thursday's practice with a possible concussion, Josh Lewenberg of TSN reports.
The big man will be subject to the NBA's concussion protocol and could miss a few days in the short-term. Consider him questionable for Friday's preseason matchup against Boston.

Stiemsma was the first Raptor off the bench Tuesday for the second straight preseason game.
He didn't do much in his 10 minutes of court time on Tuesday, recording just one rebound and one block while soaking up four fouls, but the fact that Raptors coach Dwane Casey is getting him such early looks is a good sign that Stiemsma currently has the edge in the battle for the club's final roster spot. Jordan Hamilton played some good fourth quarter minutes on Tuesday though, so Stiemsma hardly has the job locked up just yet.

Stiemsma will be in a training camp battle with Jordan Hamilton and Will Cherry for the final spot on the Raptors' roster, the Toronto Star reports.
The Raptors uncharacteristically have plenty of depth at center, but Stiemsma's ability to defend the paint (1.2 blocks per game in his career despite averaging just 16.0 minutes) could give him a leg up in the competition.
Thu Sep 4 201412:31Stiemsma signed one-year
Stiemsma signed a one-year, $1 million deal with the Raptors on Thursday, ESPN's Marc Stein reports.
The Wisconsin product spent last season with the Pelicans, averaging 2.9 points and 4.1 rebounds in a career-high 18.3 minutes per game. Toronto will be Stiemsma's fourth team in as many years, and the big man will battle with Chuck Hayes and Lucas Nogueira for playing time at center off the bench.
Mon Apr 14 201411:07Pelicans waive C Greg Stiemsma
Pelicans waive C Greg Stiemsma.
Stiemsma began the season as New Orleans' starting center but he quickly proved to be ineffective, and has averaged 2.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 18 minutes per game on the season. It speaks volumes that he was replaced by Melvin Ely with two games left in the season.

Tue Mar 25 201400:40Greg Stiemsma doesn't score vs. Nets
Greg Steimsma played just 11 minutes and didn't shoot the ball against the Nets on Monday during a start at center.
He grabbed two boards and committed four fouls. Steimsma hasn't really done anything noteworthy for about a month despite starting and seeing some minutes, so he can be ignored in almost all leagues.

Mon Mar 24 201419:19Greg Stiemsma expected to start Monday
Greg Stiemsma will start against the Nets on Monday.
This move pushes Luke Babbitt back to the bench. Stiemsma has looked lost much of the time on the court, so fantasy owners shouldn't be looking his way for some desperation stats.

Sun Mar 16 201421:04Greg Stiemsma plays 29 minutes in start at C
Greg Stiemsma had six points on 3-of-3 FGs, three rebounds and two blocks in 29 minutes during his return to the starting lineup on Sunday.
Stiemsma was promoted due to Alexis Ajinca's lousy play more than his own abilities, and fantsay owners should avoid him unless he somehow gets hot in the coming weeks. Based on past production that's very unlikely -- he averaged a mere 1.0 points and 2.8 rebounds in six prior starts at center for New Orleans.

Sat Feb 22 201417:49Greg Stiemsma will start at center
Greg Stiemsma will start against the Wizards on Saturday.
Alexis Ajinca will move to the bench for tonight's game and it's not known if this move will stick. Regardless, the center spot has been a wasteland for fantasy owners with Stiemsma, Ajinca and Jeff Withey only putting up the occasional useful line in deep leagues.

Wed Jan 29 201422:49Greg Stiemsma grabs 12 boards in start
Greg Stiemsma started at power forward on Wednesday and had three points, 12 rebounds, two steals and a block in a loss to Minnesota.
Stiemsma started with Anthony Davis out with a finger injury, and while he's had 11 and 12 rebounds in each of his last two games, we doubt he'll stay relevant for too long. But if Davis is going to miss time and Stiemsma stays in the starting lineup, deep-leaguers searching for boards and blocks might want to give him a look. He'll be tough to own though, as he simply doesn't score enough points.

Wed Jan 29 201420:03Greg Stiemsma starting at power forward
Greg Stiemsma will start at power forward next to Brian Roberts, Eric Gordon, Al-Farouq Aminu and Alexis Ajinca on Wednesday vs. the Wolves.
Steimsma played well in his 31 minutes of action on Tuesday and leapfrogged rookie Jeff Withey. Including Ajinca, all three of the big men should get some decent run tonight. Aminu might be asked to do a lot more on offense than usual.
