Stiemsma signed a one-year, $1.02 million contract with the Magic on Thursday.

The 6-foot-11 Stiemsma has bounced around the league throughout his career, logging 203 appearances with the Celtics, Timberwolves, Pelicans, and Raptors across the last four seasons. He'll aim to carve out a bench role with his new organization, but isn't expected to do much more than serve as a rim protector when he sees the floor. Stiemsma will compete with Jason Smith, Dewayne Dedmon, and Andrew Nicholson for the top backup job behind Nikola Vucevic.

Stiemsma averaged 0.8 points (75% FG, 0% 3Pt, 50% FT), 0.9 rebounds, 0.2 assists, and 0.1 steals in four minutes per game during 17 regular season games in 2014-15.

In one playoff game versus the Wizards, Stiemsma scored five points (2-2 FG, 1-2 FT) in two minutes of action. The 29-year-old center is an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Alexis Ajinca will move to the bench for tonight's game and it's not known if this move will stick. Regardless, the center spot has been a wasteland for fantasy owners with Stiemsma, Ajinca and Jeff Withey only putting up the occasional useful line in deep leagues.

Stiemsma started with Anthony Davis out with a finger injury, and while he's had 11 and 12 rebounds in each of his last two games, we doubt he'll stay relevant for too long. But if Davis is going to miss time and Stiemsma stays in the starting lineup, deep-leaguers searching for boards and blocks might want to give him a look. He'll be tough to own though, as he simply doesn't score enough points.
