Ivan Rodriguez held his retirement press conference Monday afternoon at the Ballpark in Arlington.
Rodriguez was joined by his agent, Scott Boras, and several former Rangers teammates, including the rarely-seen Rafael Palmeiro. Sat Mar 17 201218:30Royals haven't made offer to Ivan Rodriguez
According to Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star, the Royals have not made an offer to Ivan Rodriguez.
CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reported Saturday afternoon that the Royals proposed a deal to Pudge that included an invitation to spring training. But that's apparently not the case. Kansas City will likely use Brayan Pena as its primary catcher until Salvador Perez is recovered from knee surgery.

Sun Mar 11 201212:01Rays not considering Ivan Rodriguez
Buster Olney of ESPN.com reports that the Rays are not considering signing free agent catcher Ivan Rodriguez.
Pudge isn't ready to retire, but he's having trouble finding someone willing to give him a shot. The Rays are currently slated to open the year with Jose Molina behind the plate, so they could certainly use an upgrade, but evidently they don't feel Rodriguez is it. Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reported a couple weeks ago that the D'Backs had some interest in the future Hall of Famer, but it doesn't appear that they're close to signing him.

Tue Feb 28 201219:48Mets not expected to sign Ivan Rodriguez
Adam Rubin of ESPNNewYork.com was told by one Mets' source that the club will not sign Ivan Rodriguez.
Mike Puma of the New York Post was told by a Mets' source that the club hasn't ruled out signing Rodriguez at some point, but Rubin was told my multiple sources that such a move is unlikely. Instead, the club appears content going with either Mike Nickeas or Rob Johnson as Josh Thole's primary backup.

Wed Feb 22 201211:11Pudge fielding inquiries from a few teams
Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that Ivan Rodriguez has fielded inquiries from a few teams, including the Diamondbacks.
The Diamondbacks are known to be in the market for some catching depth, so it could be a decent match. Rodriguez is seeking a chance for "real playing time," but it seems unlikely he'll get it at this point. The 40-year-old batted .218/.281/.323 with two home runs and 19 RBI over 137 plate appearances last season and threw out 52 percent (13-for-25) of attempted basestealers.

Thu Dec 8 201114:05Ivan Rodriguez won't return to Nationals
Ivan Rodriguez's agent Scott Boras confirmed Wednesday night that his client won't return to the Nationals.
"I think their plan at the moment excludes him," said Boras. The Nationals will have Jesus Flores as the backup to Wilson Ramos, which means Rodriguez will have to find an opportunity elsewhere. Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post speculates that the Marlins could be a fit, while Jon Heyman of SI.com pegs the Rays and Mets as two potential destinations. Rodriguez, 40, batted .218/.281/.323 with two home runs and 19 RBI over 137 plate appearances this season and threw out 52 percent (13-for-25) of attempted basestealers. He would be a fine mentor for a young catcher.

And he's already drawing interest, according to SI.com's Jon Heyman, from the Twins, Cardinals, Phillies, Blue Jays, Orioles, Dodgers and Marlins. Pudge, who turns 40 years old in two weeks, batted .218/.281/.323 with two home runs and 19 RBI in 44 games this year for the Nationals. He'll probably land a one-year deal.

Sat Sep 24 201110:58Ivan Rodriguez gets start
Ivan Rodriguez is starting Saturday for the first time since July 4.
Pudge has been dealing with an oblique strain since early July and has been used as the third catcher since being activated earlier this month while the Nats gave young catchers Wilson Ramos and Jesus Flores the playing time. Rodriguez, 39, will be a free agent this offseason.

Thu Sep 8 201116:54Pudge won't start for Nats down the stretch
Ivan Rodriguez is "unlikely" to start another game behind the plate this season for the Nationals.
Nationals manager Davey Johnson said this week that he wants to continue to give playing time to young catchers Wilson Ramos and Jesus Flores. It only makes sense. Pudge, 39, will be a free agent this offseason.

Ivan Rodriguez (oblique) took 25 swings off a tee without incident on Saturday.
He is scheduled to do the same drill on Sunday and Monday. Nationals manager Davey Johnson has ruled out Pudge until rosters expand in September. He will be a free agent following the season, so the Nationals are content giving his at-bats to Wilson Ramos and Jesus Flores.

Fri Aug 19 201116:41Pudge (oblique) ruled out until September
Nationals manager Davey Johnson has ruled out Ivan Rodriguez (oblique) until rosters expand in September.
In other words, don't look for Pudge in any August waiver deals. The veteran backstop is currently making his way back from a strained right oblique. He will be a free agent following the season, so the Nationals are better off giving at-bats to Wilson Ramos and Jesus Flores, anyway.

Tue Aug 16 201118:14Pudge (oblique) does light activities Tuesday
Ivan Rodriguez (oblique) did some light baseball activities Tuesday.
Pudge worked out and did some throwing, but isn't ready to swing a bat. He is scheduled to see the team doctor prior to Tuesday's game and will likely do some more throwing Wednesday. The veteran backstop just experienced a setback last week, so the Nationals aren't going to rush him into a minor league rehab assignment.

Ivan Rodriguez (oblique) receied an epidural shot Sunday and will shut down his rehab for three days as the shot takes effect.
Rodriguez "still felt something" in his right oblique, Nats GM Mike Rizzo said, after batting practice on Sunday. Rodriguez left Single-A Hagerstown soon thereafter. If he is cleared by Washington's medical team on Wednesday, he will begin a rehab assignment.
