Dominique Jones has signed a deal to play in China.

He had an interesting year with the Mavericks last season. Jones was rumored to be on the trade block, but he started three games for them. He did shoot 23.8 percent from the field in those starts and hasn't done much in his NBA career.

They were reportedly trying to trade him at the deadline and would have probably taken anything in exchange for the former first-round pick. He has some talent and even started three games this year, so perhaps he can catch on with a team like the Hornets that has no depth in the backcourt.

Dominique Jones shot 5-of-8 from the field for 15 points with two boards, two assists and one block in just 14 minutes.

He tied his season high with those 15 points and it was his first game with double-digit minutes since December 27. Jones can remain on the waiver wire and his upside would be nothing more than a timeshare with Roddy Beaubois (seven points in 10 minutes) in the event of a Darren Collison injury (eight points and four assists in 24 minutes).

Roddy Beaubois will be on the inactive list. Both of these guys have been passed by the recently signed Mike James and have no value in any fantasy league.

Dominique Jones made a surprise start for the Mavs on Sunday, replacing Darren Collison, but he shot just 1-of-7 from the field for seven points in 20 minutes.

DoJo chipped in four assists and two steals, but he also bricked 3-of-6 FTs and the Mavs were crushed from the outset by the Spurs. The drubbing doesn't fall on his shoulders, of course, but he didn't do anything to justify the starting nod or suggest he'll be a reliable fantasy option. If you're still on the fence, consider that he's a 36.1 percent shooter who is 1-of-19 from downtown in his NBA career.

Rick Carlisle obviously isn't sold on Collison as a starter, primarily because of his defensive weaknesses, but it remains to be seen whether DoJo can hold down the job. Fantasy owners should probably take a wait-and-see approach -- DoJo is a 36.1 percent shooter, and his career assist-to-turnover ratio (1.8-to-1.0) doesn't inspire much confidence.

Dominique Jones tied a career-high with 13 points on 4-of-9 shooting, and also chipped in with three rebounds, seven assists, and one steal in 32 minutes off the bench on Friday.

Jones filled in for both Darren Collison (flu, 10 minutes) and Derek Fisher (knee), which is the obvious caveat to tonight's result. Still, some beat writers were joking that he was playing better than Collison, albeit before news broke that Collison was sick. He needs to show more before owners should pay him much attention.

Dominique Jones played 26 minutes off the bench and had seven points, seven assists and one steal against the Heat on Thursday.

DoJo's seven assists were a career high and he's been the backup point guard with Derek Fisher out of the lineup. Fisher could miss a few more games, so owners in very deep leagues could give him a look for short-term value.

Dominique Jones or Roddy Beaubois could start at point guard with the injury to Derek Fisher.

Rick Carlisle could choose to keep Darren Collison in his bench role, and that would result in one of the other point guards starting for Fisher. No matter who starts, Collison is the biggest beneficiary from a fantasy perspective of Fisher's absence.

Dominique Jones returned to action on Wednesday December 12.

Jones has found the pine since Derek Fisher was signed, so this won't have any impact on the Mavs' rotation.

Dominique Jones failed to take advantage of being the surprise starter at point guard on Tuesday, missing all five of his shots and finishing with two points and three assists in 18 minutes of a loss to the Sixers.

We're guessing Rick Carlisle was trying to send a message to Darren Collison (play defense) and that Dojo's run at PG will be a short one. Especially given tonight's performance.

Dominique Jones assumed backup PG duties for Dallas on Saturday, displacing Roddy Beaubois.

DoJo finished with a respectable 10 points, four rebounds, five assists, two steals and three turnovers in 18 minutes, more than enough to stick in the rotation. Roddy tweaked his ankle toward the end of Friday's game, but none of the Mavericks' beat writers suggested that was the cause for his inactivity.

The Mavericks could part ways with Dominique Jones after coming to a verbal agreement with Troy Murphy on a one-year contract.

Dallas has to make a roster move to accommodate Murphy. Given that the Mavs unsuccessfully shopped Jones in the preseason and then declined his contract option for next season, Jones seems to be the most logical candidate to go.

He'll be an unrestricted free agent in the offseason. Although he's just 24 years old and still has time to develop, Jones is not on the fantasy radar.

The Mavericks have actively shopped Dominique Jones.

Jones played well in summer league but seems to be without a role entering the season. The 24-year-old is expected to become an unrestricted FA as the club is unlikely to pick up his option for next season.

Dominique Jones could get some minutes at point guard this year.

Jones was very productive at point guard in the Summer League with 16.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and 5.0 assists. He has never played more than 13 minutes per game over any month in his two-year career, so he will obviously need several things to happen to have fantasy value.

Rick Carlisle praised Dominique Jones for his play in offseason scrimmages.

"Dominique's been playing great," he said. "It's going to be extremely competitive in the backcourt. He has had a really good summer." Jones played well in summer league with averages of 16.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and 5.0 assists, but he's going to have to make a sizable impression very early to climb his way up the depth chart. The Mavericks have a lot of mouths to feed in the backcourt.

The Mavericks want Dominique Jones to continue to work on his point guard skills.

Jones was asked during Las Vegas summer league to work on "the point guard things," and the best chance he has at extended playing time and cracking the rotation in 2012-13 is to prove that he can truly handle point guard duties. With O.J. Mayo, Darren Collison, Delonte West, Dahntay Jones, Vince Carter and Jarred Cunningham all in the backcourt, Jones needs to make his presence felt early in training camp.

Dominique Jones is entering a "make-or-break" season with the Mavericks.

"We really believe in his ability to play both guard positions and he's playing mostly point guard with this team, which is good," said Rick Carlisle. "He's been working hard." The team wants Jones to become a better all-around player and more of a distributor, and Jones knows there is an opportunity in front of him. "I'm trying to come out and get a good rhythm," he said. We don't expect him to pop up on the fantasy radar.
