Sun Aug 31 201412:55Gaines has signed with Besiktas of Turkish Basketball League
Gaines has signed with Besiktas of the Turkish Basketball League, Sportando reports.
Gaines played in the D-League and in Europe last season. The 2011-12 season was the last time he played for an NBA team, and the longer he stays overseas, the less likely it is that he'd return to the NBA and carve out a sizable role.

Tue Apr 17 201203:01Gaines productive in start for Williams
Sundiata Gaines started for injured Deron Williams (calf) on Monday against the Heat, scoring 11 points on 4-of-10 shooting (including a three) with four rebounds, seven assists, and two steals in 33 minutes.
Gaines and MarShon Brooks are the only two guards that can run the point with Williams out, so Gaines is worth a speculative look if you're in need of a point guard. We have no idea what Williams is going to do with the rest of his season, but if he decides to turn it in then Gaines will be a decent bet to post low-end production.

Thu Apr 5 201201:44Sundiata Gaines awful in start at point guard
Sundiata Gaines started at point guard for Deron Williams (flu), but missed all five of his shots, failed to score and handed out just one assist in 19 minutes on Wednesday.
He's the only point guard available to backup Williams right now, which is good news for the fantasy owners of Deron. Hopefully he'll be feeling better and be ready to go for Friday's game against John Wall and the Wizards.

Fri Mar 16 201223:02Sundiata Gaines starts at point guard for NJ
Sundiata Gaines started at point guard for the Nets on Friday and had six points, four rebounds and an assist on 2-of-13 shooting in Friday's blowout loss to the Magic.
When you're starting Gaines, DeShawn Stevenson and Shelden Williams, blowouts are going to be frequent occurrences. Jordan Farmar (groin) and Deron Williams (calf) were both out, allowing Gaines to start tonight.

Fri Mar 16 201217:54Sundiata Gaines to draw Friday start w/Nets
Sundiata Gaines will start for the Nets against the Magic on Friday.
With Deron Williams (calf) and Jordan Farmar (groin) out, Gaines gets the start for the injury-ravaged Nets. With D-Will, Farmar and Brook Lopez (ankle) all injured and newly-acquired Gerald Wallace not expected to play until Saturday, points may be hard to come by for New Jersey when then take on Orlando Friday night.

Wed Feb 22 201218:11Gaines (toe) to 'give it a go' Wednesday
Sundiata Gaines (toe) is expected to "give it a go" on Wednesday, according to Avery Johnson.
Even with Jordan Farmar (groin) sidelined, Gaines' role remains limited. He's averaging just 4.8 points in his last five games.

Wed Feb 22 201210:14Sundiata Gaines questionable for Wednesday
Sundiata Gaines (toe) is listed as questionable for Wednesday.
This is the first we've heard of a toe injury for Gaines, and he must have come out of his last game with the soreness. New Jersey has arguably been bitten by the injury bug harder than any other team in the league. With Jordan Farmar ruled out through the All-Star break, Deron Williams would see all the minutes he could handle if Gaines is unable to go.

Mon Feb 20 201222:44Gaines plays well in limited minutes
Sundiata Gaines scored eight points on 3-of-8 shooting (including a three) with four rebounds, four assists, and three steals in just 16 minutes off the bench on Monday.
Gaines looked good tonight, but he's been buried for a while and needs to catch a few breaks before he'll be a worthwhile asset.

Sat Feb 11 201201:59Gaines posts nice line in garbage time
Sundiata Gaines scored 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting (including a three) with four rebounds, six assists, and a steal in 22 minutes off the bench on Friday.
Gaines did his damage in garbage time, and needs some injury help or a promotion before he has any real fantasy value.

Tue Jan 3 201201:50Gaines goes quiet with Brooks going off
Sundiata Gaines scored 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting (including a three) with two rebounds, no assists, and one steal in 17 minutes on Monday.
He's starting, but perhaps not for long with MarShon Brooks starting the second half of Monday's game and generally going off. If you've been using Gaines in a deeper format, it's time to look elsewhere.

Sun Jan 1 201220:29Sundiata Gaines scores 11 points in loss
Nets SG Sundiata Gaines scored a season-high 11 points in Sunday's loss to the Cavaliers, adding four rebounds, four assists, three steals and five turnovers.
Gaines has at least one steal, three assists and three rebounds in every game this year, but he's a low-end fantasy option, at best. If his mediocre numbers don't scare you away, consider that he's shooting 41% from the field and 62% from the FT line.

Sat Dec 31 201101:35Sundiata Gaines starts again for Nets
Sundiata Gaines started over Anthony Morrow again Friday and had 10 points and five assists in 28 minutes.
Avery Johnson has become famous for benching established players (like Morrow) in an attempt to find a diamond in the rough (Gaines), and this situation is no different. While Morrow is now a very tough fantasy start coming off the bench (nine points, three 3-pointers, 26 minutes), Gaines should only be given a look in very deep leagues.

Fri Dec 30 201121:59Gaines producing at the low-end for Jersey
Sundiata Gaines scored 10 points on 3-of-7 shooting (including a three) with three rebounds, five assists, and two steals in 28 minutes on Friday.
Right now Avery Johnson has brought him into a starting job to relieve ball-handling pressure on Deron Williams, and it's also a better fit defensively where Gaines can defend opposing PGs. Gaines was also a teammate of Williams in Utah, which is becoming a theme as the Nets try to keep Williams happy. Gaines is flirting with low-end production in 14-16 team formats so give him a look.

Thu Dec 29 201121:59Gaines throws up low-end numbers in start
Sundiata Gaines started at shooting guard on Thursday, scoring eight points on 3-of-9 shooting (no threes) with four rebounds, three assists, and a steal in 25 minutes.
The Nets looked hopeless and if their name isn't Deron (or maybe Kris), their starting job isn't safe. If you're in a 20-team league you may find Gaines' potential for low-end statistics valuable, but we're stretching here. Former starter Anthony Morrow struggled, hittin g2-of-10 shots from the field for four points.

Thu Dec 29 201118:08Gaines to start at SG for the Nets
Avery Johnson has moved Sundiata Gaines into the New Jersey Nets starting lineup for Thursday night's game vs. the Orlando Magic.
Head coach Avery Johnson has changed the lineup because he wanted to rectify poor starts and give Deron Williams an extra ball handler in Gaines when he's trapped. His outlook is better with a starting gig, but Gaines should not be on your fantasy team at this time. Anthony Morrow, who lost his starting job to Gaines, should still be able to get his points, but this news certainly won't help his fantasy stock.

Thu Sep 8 201123:36Gaines signs with Georgian team overseas
Sundiata Gaines has signed with BC Armia of Georgia according to Hoopshype.com.
We've always been a fan of his, as he has made the most out of his opportunities when he has gotten them. For a player without many guarantees at the NBA level, taking an opportunity to get paid while proving his hip injury is behind him is the right thing to do.

Sun Sep 4 201109:22Update: Sundiata Gaines not headed to Georgia
Sundiata Gaines was reportedly negotiating a contract with the team BC Armia from Georgia, but the deal has fallen through.
Gaines would have needed an NBA-out clause, which could have been a sticking point for the reigning Georgian champs. He fractured his hip last March but has since played in various Pro-Am leagues, so presumably that injury wasn't an issue.

Sat Jul 23 201110:35Sundiata Gaines (hip) playing streetball
Nets guard Sundiata Gaines (hip surgery) is reportedly playing in the Dyckman League, a streetball tradition in New York.
Gaines was struggling with his lateral movement last month, but apparently he's well enough to ball again (for a team named "Ooh-Way"). He should be fine for training camp, or whenever the lockout ends.

Wed Jun 15 201110:54Gaines not doing side-to-side moves yet
Sundiata Gaines (hip surgery) has begun on-court work but can't do any side-to-side movements.
Gaines is on track to be ready for camp despite breaking his hip in March. He'll be the third point guard behind Deron Williams and Jordan Farmar.
