Gaines has signed with Besiktas of the Turkish Basketball League, Sportando reports.

Gaines played in the D-League and in Europe last season. The 2011-12 season was the last time he played for an NBA team, and the longer he stays overseas, the less likely it is that he'd return to the NBA and carve out a sizable role.

Gaines was also a teammate of Williams in Utah, which is becoming a theme as the Nets try to keep Williams happy. Gaines is flirting with low-end production in 14-16 team formats so give him a look.

The Nets looked hopeless and if their name isn't Deron (or maybe Kris), their starting job isn't safe. If you're in a 20-team league you may find Gaines' potential for low-end statistics valuable, but we're stretching here. His outlook is better with a starting gig, but Gaines should not be on your fantasy team at this time. Anthony Morrow, who lost his starting job to Gaines, should still be able to get his points, but this news certainly won't help his fantasy stock.

We've always been a fan of his, as he has made the most out of his opportunities when he has gotten them. For a player without many guarantees at the NBA level, taking an opportunity to get paid while proving his hip injury is behind him is the right thing to do.

Sundiata Gaines was reportedly negotiating a contract with the team BC Armia from Georgia, but the deal has fallen through.

Gaines would have needed an NBA-out clause, which could have been a sticking point for the reigning Georgian champs. He fractured his hip last March but has since played in various Pro-Am leagues, so presumably that injury wasn't an issue.
