Mon Mar 23 201514:51Lannan reassigned to Rockies' minor-league camp Sunday
Lannan was reassigned to the Rockies' minor-league camp Sunday.
Lannan was a long shot to claim a rotation spot with the Rockies out of spring training, and didn't see his odds of claiming a starting role improve much even after the release of Jhoulys Chacin. He'll more than likely work in a depth capacity at Triple-A Albuquerque to begin the season, but could be called upon if a spot starter or swingman is needed by the big club.
Sat Nov 22 201419:51Lannan signed minor league contract with Rockies
Lannan signed a minor league contract with the Rockies, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.
Lannan made 25-plus starts in four straight seasons while with the Nationals from 2008-2011, but he's made just 25 appearances (20 starts) at the major league level in the past three years. The lefty spent some time in the Mets' bullpen early in 2015 and went on to post a 6.75 ERA and 1.82 WHIP in 14 appearances (12 starts) between High-A St. Lucie and Triple-A Las Vegas, but don't put it past the Rockies to give him a few starts in 2015.

Wed Apr 16 201413:19John Lannan outrighted to Triple-A
Mets sent LHP John Lannan outright to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Lannan's move to the bullpen didn't go well, as he posted a 15.75 ERA over five relief appearances. He has the option to elect free agency rather than accept the minor league assignment. The Mets will try Daisuke Matsuzaka as a long reliever instead.

Thu Mar 27 201416:05Mets add LHP John Lannan to 40-man
Mets purchased the contract of LHP John Lannan from Triple-A Las Vegas.
With that, Lannan has earned a spot on the Opening Day roster. While he has pitched almost exclusively as a starter during his career, he will function as a second left-hander out of New York's bullpen.

Mon Mar 17 201417:20John Lannan gives up five runs
John Lannan gave up five runs and eight hits in 3 1/3 innings Monday in a loss to the Marlins.
Lannan walked four and struck out just one in his first rough outing of the spring. It was starting to look like the Mets' plan was to make Daisuke Matsuzaka their fifth starter and carry Lannan as a reliever, though that was prior to Jon Niese's setback. Now there might be room for both in the rotation. Lannan doesn't look like much of an option in NL-only leagues, though.

Wed Mar 12 201416:34John Lannan strikes out five Cardinals
John Lannan allowed two unearned runs in four innings and struck out five in a loss to the Cardinals on Wednesday.
It sounds like the Mets want one of the veterans as their fifth starter, not Jenrry Mejia. Lannan is likely a bit behind Daisuke Matsuzaka in the race, but he helped his cause today; the only runs came after a David Wright error. What does hurt Lannan is that he's a candidate for the bullpen if he's not in the rotation, while Matsuzaka is strictly a starter.

Sun Mar 2 201416:38Lannan in the conversation for fifth starter
Mets manager Terry Collins said Sunday that John Lannan and Daisuke Matsuzaka were currently the frontrunners to occupy the fifth and final spot in the Mets Opening Day rotation.
The 29-year-old southpaw made 14 starts for the Phillies in 2013, posting an underwhelming 5.33 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 38/27 K/BB ratio over 74 1/3 innings. Even if he does manage to win the spot over Matsuzaka, his fantasy value would be minimal outside of NL-only formats.

Tue Jan 21 201415:57Lannan would earn $1.5M if he makes Mets
John Lannan will receive a $1.5 million salary if he makes the Mets.
Lannan could earn an additional $2 million if he reaches certain benchmarks in innings pitched and games started. The 29-year-old can opt out of the deal in mid-June if he's not in the majors. He's set to compete for the fifth starter job in the spring.

Thu Oct 17 201320:00John Lannan elects free agency
John Lannan has elected free agency.
Lannan had been outrighted off the Phillies' 40-man roster. He was eligible for arbitration for a final time this winter, but Philly would have non-tendered him, so he'll now just have more time to look for a new gig. The left-hander's season ended early due to left knee tendinosis.

Tue Aug 20 201316:30Lannan (knee) done for the rest of the season
John Lannan (knee) is done for the season.
Lannan was placed on the disabled list August 16 with left knee tendinosis and may need surgery. The 28-year-old posted a brutal 5.33 ERA in 74 1/3 innings this season for Philly. He could be non-tendered this winter.

Fri Aug 16 201310:05John Lannan (knee) placed on disabled list
Phillies placed LHP John Lannan on the 15-day disabled list with left knee tendinosis.
Lannan suffered the injury during Wednesday's start in what was essentially an aggravation of a previous injury. The Phillies haven't provided a timetable for his return, but since he missed two months of action earlier this year with the ailment there's a good chance his season is over.

Thu Aug 15 201319:04John Lannan (knee) likely headed back to DL
Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro said Thursday that it "seems likely" John Lannan (knee) is headed back to the disabled list.
"It appears that he has similar symptoms to those he experienced earlier this season with tendinitis of the patellar tendon," Amaro said. "We will conduct a repeat MRI and will know more about his injury once the MRI is performed. It seems likely that he is headed back to the disabled list." Lannan, who suffered the injury Wednesday, missed two months of action earlier this season with the same injury, so his season could be over.

Wed Aug 14 201321:53John Lannan leaves start with knee injury
John Lannan left Wednesday's start against the Braves with a left knee injury.
It's presumably an aggravation of the knee injury that cost him two months of action earlier this season. The Phillies will update Lannan's status after the game, but a stint on the disabled list seems likely. The Phillies have Roy Halladay and Jonathan Pettibone working their way back from injury, but they wouldn't be ready to take Lannan's next turn. Tyler Cloyd might be an option.

Fri Aug 9 201321:44Lannan blasted for eight runs in loss to Nats
John Lannan was blasted for eight runs over five innings in a loss to the Nationals on Friday.
The eight runs matched a career-high. He was especially bad in the fifth inning, walking three batters, including opposing pitcher Dan Haren with the bases loaded. Lannan now owns a 4.81 ERA and 37/24 K/BB ratio over 73 innings this season. He has very little fantasy appeal.

Sat Aug 3 201320:23Lannan yields four runs in Phils' loss to ATL
John Lannan yielded four runs -- two earned -- in 4 1/3 innings Saturday in the Phillies' loss to the Braves.
The game wasn't decided until the 12th inning, so Lannan escaped with a no-decision. The left-hander issued two walks and didn't tally a single strikeout. He'll carry a 4.10 ERA and 1.35 WHIP into his next scheduled start against the Nationals and is not a recommended fantasy option in standard mixed leagues.

Fri Aug 2 201316:32Lannan to start Saturday vs. Braves
John Lannan will start Saturday against the Braves.
Lannan will be making the start on three days' rest, as Cliff Lee (neck) is expected to return to action on Sunday. He isn't a recommended option in most fantasy leagues.

Tue Jul 30 201323:05Lannan allows three runs in win over Giants
John Lannan allowed three runs in seven innings in a win over the Giants on Tuesday.
Lannan was subpar in his first start after the All-Star break but rebounded nicely on Tuesday, holding the Giants to three runs on seven hits while striking out three. The win moved the lefty to 3-4 on the year, and he owns a 4.10 ERA through 11 starts. He'll have a tougher matchup his next time out, as he takes on the Braves on Sunday.

Wed Jul 24 201323:25Lannan allows four runs in loss to Cardinals
John Lannan allowed four earned runs in four innings Wednesday as the Phillies fell to the Cardinals.
Lannan got on a nice roll heading into the All-Star break but fell off the tracks on Wednesday night in St. Louis. He yielded eight hits and two walks, and was lifted from the game before the start of the fifth inning. The lefty will try for better next week vs. San Francisco.
