James, 30, didn't pitch poorly for Triple-A Buffalo, posting a 4.57 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 22/9 K/BB ratio over 21 2/3 innings, but the Mets decided they'd rather have Chris Schwinden back. He should be able to catch on elsewhere.

Mets signed LHP Chuck James to a minor league contract.
James appeared in eight games with the Twins this past season, posting an ugly 6.10 ERA over 10 1/3 innings. However, the 30-year-old southpaw enjoyed more success at the Triple-A level, compiling an impressive 2.30 ERA and 67/27 K/BB ratio over 62 2/3 innings as a reliever. The former Brave will likely function as organizational depth.

Twins purchased the contract of LHP Chuck James from Triple-A Rochester.
The 29-year-old lefty will take Joe Nathan's place on the Twins' 25-man roster after elbow inflammation sent him to the disabled list on Saturday. James has been very effective in 28 2/3 innings of work for Rochester this season, posting a 1.57 ERA and 0.94 WHIP. He last appeared in the major leagues in 2008 as a member of the Braves.
