Spurs waive Derrick Brown.
The former Bobcat didn't do enough to distinguish himself this preseason, averaging 6.6 points in 15.4 minutes per game, but he's probably talented enough to earn a minimum deal somewhere.

Thu Sep 20 201215:49UFA Derrick Brown signs with Spurs
Spurs sign unrestricted free agent forward Derrick Brown.
Brown has been an effective player for the Bobcats, averaging a career-high eight points last season. The deal isn't guaranteed, but it does sound like Brown is expected to make the team, where he would be a role player off the bench.

The Bobcats have withdrawn a qualifying offer to F Derrick Brown, making him an unrestricted free agent.
With high-profile rookies Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Jeff Taylor on board, along with veteran Reggie Williams, there really wasn't room for Brown on the new-look Bobcats.

Fri Jun 29 201220:03Derrick Brown given qualifying offer by CHA
Derrick Brown was given a qualifying offer by the Bobcats on Friday.
Brown was the preferred SF option for the Bobcats down the stretch, but with the acquisition of Michael Kidd-Gilchrist he'll be pegged for a backup role sooner rather than later. As one of the Bobcats' better players, the move gives them better flexibility as they try to retain their depth.

Thu Apr 26 201219:21Derrick Brown out on Thursday vs. Knicks
Derrick Brown (ankle) will not play on Thursday against the Knicks, and Tyrus Thomas will start in his place.
Thomas is a deep league desperation play, at best, and look for D.J. White to get a few extra minutes. Matt Carroll could also be worth a look in deep leagues for his 3-point shooting. Otherwise, it's possible the Bobcats go with a small lineup in their attempt to avoid history, which would benefit Kemba Walker.

Wed Apr 25 201222:17Derrick Brown suffers ankle injury
Derrick Brown had 16 points, five rebounds and two steals on 6-of-11 shooting on Wednesday, but left the game late with a sprained right ankle.
Brown's ankle has been a mess for a couple weeks now, and he could miss Thursday's finale against the Knicks with the injury. The Bobcats lost for the 22nd straight time tonight, and will finish with the worst winning percentage in NBA history if they can't beat the Knicks tomorrow. Tyrus Thomas is a potential starter if Brown can't go.

Mon Apr 23 201221:28Brown goes for eight and seven with a steal
Derrick Brown scored eight points on 4-of-7 shooting with seven rebounds and a steal in 26 minutes on Monday.
Brown has been dealing with an ankle injury while providing low-end value over the past few weeks. His production has slipped a bit recently due to that ankle injury, but with two more games to go he's worth a look for fantasy owners.

Fri Apr 20 201221:57Brown scores 11 points on bad wheel
Derrick Brown played through an ankle injury on Friday, scoring 11 points on 5-of-15 shooting with three rebounds and three assists in 38 minutes.
The Bobcats went all-out to win their final home game, and it wouldn't be surprising if Brown leaned into his bad wheel too hard. A low-end play with some value for his steals, owners will want to monitor him closely going forward.

Derrick Brown suffered a sprained right ankle very early in Wednesday's game, but is expected to return.
Brown was a popular add this week due to a favorable schedule, but if the injury lingers, the plan could backfire. The good news is it sounds like he'll return tonight.

Tue Apr 17 201201:45Brown scores seven points with three steals
Derrick Brown scored seven points on 3-of-10 shooting (0-for-3 from deep) with six rebounds, three assists, and three steals in 34 minutes on Monday against the Hornets.
Brown has averaged 32 minutes, 12.2 points, 0.4 threes, 5.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.4 steals, 0.2 blocks, and 1.2 turnovers while shooting 48 percent from the field and 60 percent from the line over is last five contests. That's good for borderline value in 12-team leagues, and if you need steals he's well worth a look.

Sat Apr 14 201200:27Derrick Brown goes for 21 and nine vs. MIA
Derrick Brown scored 21 points on 8-of-15 shooting (5-of-10 from the foul line) with nine rebounds, two assists, and a steal in 35 minutes on Friday against the Heat.
Brown may have benefited a bit from D.J. White's exit due to a headache, but owners should give Brown a look, regardless. We're not expecting huge things from him, and he has been plenty inconsistent, but the minutes are seemingly there and that gives him a fighting chance.

Thu Apr 12 201222:11Brown scores 13 points with five rebounds
Derrick Brown scored 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting (including a three) with five rebounds and three assists in 36 minutes on Thursday.
Brown has been very inconsistent and he's only worth a look in deeper formats, at best. Backup D.J. White is further down the food chain, and posted 12 points with four rebounds and two assists in 30 minutes off the bench tonight.

Fri Apr 6 201219:39Brown to start; Williams to bench for Bobcats
Derrick Brown will start Friday's game against the Bucks, sending Reggie Williams to the bench.
We're asking owners to take a wait-and-see approach with this game, for one because the Bobcats are a very fluid fantasy team right now and for two because the Bucks changed their lineup drastically tonight. The Bucks will be running a very small lineups, so we'll see if the Bobcats have it in them to oblige and help the box score get filled.

Tue Mar 27 201202:59Brown posts 16 points with seven assists
Derrick Brown scored 16 points on 4-of-6 shooting (8-of-8 from the foul line) with zero rebounds and seven assists in 31 minutes off the bench on Monday against the Celtics.
Brown's previous season-high for assists was 'two,' so needless to say that portion of his line was a fluke. Like many of his bench-mates, he is much too inconsistent for an add. If he does it again we'll let you know.

Wed Mar 14 201223:27Derrick Brown plays well in blowout loss
Derrick Brown came off the bench and played 26 minutes on Wednesday, finishing with 15 points, one rebound and four steals on 6-of-10 shooting.
With the score lopsided and Tyrus Thomas and D.J. White struggling, Paul Silas gave Brown some run. Unless he becomes a starter, which isn't likely, count this one as a fluke.

Mon Feb 13 201223:53Derrick Brown plays just 18 minutes vs. PHI
Derrick Brown played just 18 minutes off the bench on Monday, scoring four points on 1-of-2 shooting with five rebounds and an assist.
Brown went 10-of-10 from the field on last Tuesday and followed that game up with some semi-productive lines, but getting crowded out by Corey Maggette and others was the concern and it hit Brown tonight. If you own him in a deeper league it's probably time to cut bait.

Tue Feb 7 201222:17Derrick Brown has perfect night in loss
Derrick Brown came off the bench to hit all 10 of his shots for a career-high 20 points to go along with four rebounds and two assists in 28 minutes of Tuesday's loss to Boston.
Brown has hit double figures in scoring in seven of his last nine games, but tonight was more of a fluke than anything else. However, given the struggles of Tyrus Thomas, Brown could have earned more minutes with this performance. Just keep an eye on him.

Sat Jan 28 201222:26Derrick Brown back to bench for Bobcats
Derrick Brown has been moved back to the bench for Charlotte, with Tyrus Thomas starting at small forward, and Boris Diaw starting at power forward.
Brown had four points in 18 minutes on Saturday, and loses what little fantasy appeal he had if not starting. And once D.J. Augustin and Gerald Henderson are back, his opportunities should shrivel up.
