Fri Feb 8 201315:48Mike MacDougal to throw for teams
Ben Nicholson-Smith of MLBTradeRumors.com reports that Mike MacDougal will throw for interested teams on Tuesday.
The list of interested clubs doesn't figure to be long, as MacDougal gave up five runs over 5 2/3 innings for the Dodgers last year and also had an ugly 6.52 ERA at Triple-A. He'll surely be able to land a minor league deal with someone, though. MacDougal will turn 36 in less than a month.

Cubs signed RHP Mike MacDougal to a minor league contract.
It didn't take MacDougal long to find a home after he was released by the Dodgers last week. The 34-year-old right-hander was given the boot after posting a 7.94 ERA over 5 2/3 innings this season. He does have previous closing experience, so he could be considered a dark horse for saves in a very shaky Cubs' bullpen. We're assuming he'll report to Triple-A Iowa initially, though.

Mike MacDougal skipped a scheduled bullpen session Thursday after tweaking something in his back while fielding a ground ball on Wednesday.
It's still very early in camp, so it shouldn't have a big impact on his preparation for exhibition play. MacDougal, 34, posted a 2.05 ERA and 41/29 K/BB ratio in 57 innings last season and will pitch in middle relief for the Dodgers in 2012.

Thu May 12 201113:32Mike MacDougal pitching well for Dodgers
Mike MacDougal has posted a 1.46 ERA in his first 15 appearances for the Dodgers.
MacDougal has been quietly effective out of the Dodgers bullpen to this point, though he's been able to get around seven walks over 12 1/3 innings. We fully expect him to go south eventually, but it's possible he could get some save chances on days where Vicente Padilla is unavailable.

Fri Mar 4 201120:41MacDougal a 'clear favorite' for relief spot?
ESPN Los Angeles' Tony Jackson writes that Mike MacDougal is currently a "clear favorite" to land one of the spots in the Dodgers bullpen.
We'll give it a couple more weeks before we start to seriously consider the former All-Star a likely candidate to make the Opening Day roster. MacDougal can still hum it in the mid-90s, but he often has little idea where the ball is going, as evidenced by a BB/9 rate that hasn't been below 5.79 since 2006.

Fri Mar 4 201106:04Mike MacDougal healthier than last year
Mike MacDougal said he is healthier than he was a year ago.
Dodgers manager Don Mattingly was impressed with MacDougal's performance on Thursday: three outs on five pitches -- all strikes. Such efficiency has eluded the 33-year-old in recent years, and he will need to manufacture more of it during his uphill battle to for a roster spot.

Fri Jan 28 201118:28Dodgers ink MacDougal to minors deal
Dodgers signed RHP Mike MacDougal to a minor league contract.
He'll get an invite to spring training. The former All-Star closer was woeful for the Cardinals after being called up in late July, posting a 7.23 ERA and 1.87 WHIP while walking 12 over 18 2/3 innings. MacDougal can still hit the mid-90s with regularity, but he rarely knows where the ball is going and is a longshot to win a roster spot.
