Thu Oct 10 201313:44Spurs waive training camp invitee Sam Young
The Spurs have waived Sam Young, according to Jared Zwerling of Turner Sports.
Young was in the running for a roster spot at backup SF, along with Corey Maggette and guys like Courtney Fells and Dan Nwaelele. Gregg Popovich said that Marco Belinelli and Manu Ginobili will slide over and play SF occasionally, but he added that they're both "a little bit slight for some of the teams we're going to play."

Tue Oct 1 201309:24Sam Young vying for final spot in San Antonio
Sam Young and Corey Maggette will be battling for the final roster spot in San Antonio.
According to Gregg Popovich, Sam Young and Corey Maggette were brought in to serve as potential backups behind Kawhi Leonard. "They're both big, strong people for the position," Popovich said. Although serviceable backups in the NBA, for fantasy purposes Young and Maggette can rest safely on the waiver wire.

Sun Sep 8 201309:09Report: Free agent Sam Young meets w/ Spurs
Free agent F Sam Young reportedly met with the Spurs in San Antonio last week.
The Spurs are thin behind Kawhi Leonard at SF and may have use for a guy like Young, who averaged 2.8 points in 12 minutes per game with the Pacers last year. As those numbers indicate, he won't have fantasy value while stuck in a marginal backup role.

Sun May 26 201323:26Sam Young (ankle) quiet in Pacers' home loss
Sam Young (sprained ankle) had two points and three rebounds in eight minutes on Sunday, part of a 16-point effort from the Pacers' bench.
The Pacers' stingy defense was overrun by the Heat tonight, allowing 114 points, and Miami's lead swelled by 12 points during Young's brief time on the court. The good news is that his ankle injury shouldn't be a limitation when Indiana tries to even the series in Game 4 on Tuesday.

Sun May 26 201314:15Sam Young (ankle) ready to play in Game 3
Sam Young said that his sprained ankle is "fine" and he'll be ready to play in Game 3 vs. Miami on Sunday.
Young suffered what looked like a pretty bad sprain in the third quarter on Friday and we don't expect him to be 100 percent healthy, but the four-year veteran will be ready to play 10 minutes as a defensive stopper off the bench.

Fri May 24 201322:42Sam Young (ankle) heads to the locker room
Sam Young suffered a sprained left ankle in the third quarter of Friday's game and is questionable to return.
He landed awkwardly near the basket on the defensive side of the court, then hobbled his way to halfcourt before heading to the locker room. Young has been getting plenty of burn and has been on the wrong end of a lot of big plays so far in this series. Lance Stephenson and Paul George will continue to get plenty of work on the wings.

Mon Jan 28 201315:03Pacers re-sign Sam Young
The Pacers re-signed G/F Sam Young on Monday.

Sun Jan 6 201317:31Pacers officially waive Sam Young
Pacers waive G/F Sam Young.
Young's evaluation of his severely sprained ankle is expected to keep him out for multiple weeks, so the Pacers opted to waive him and they'll be on the prowl for another wing to fill their thing rotation at that spot.

Sun Jan 6 201314:33Pacers expected to release Sam Young
The Pacers are expected to release Sam Young (ankle).
He's out indefinitely and the Pacers were expected to evaluate him this weekend, so perhaps that didn't go well for Young. He played 16 minutes per game in 28 games, so those minutes could be dispersed among Paul George, Lance Stephenson and Gerald Green. The Pacers could also take a look at recently-release Dominic McGuire.

Young is expected to be reevaluated in a few days, and this shouldn't shake up anything in your fantasy league.

Sat Dec 29 201218:30Sam Young stays in Indiana, out Saturday
Sam Young (flu) did not travel with the team and will not play against the Hawks on Saturday.
He missed Friday's game against Phoenix and doesn't have much value to begin with. Lance Stephenson is coming off a nice game on Friday and figures to be a factor again in Atlanta, but he's not worth a look in standard leagues just yet.

Fri Dec 28 201218:24Sam Young sick, won't play Friday night
Sam Young will not play against the Suns on Sunday due to flu-like symptoms.
Young doesn't really rate in most formats, so his absence shouldn't either. Frank Vogel said he'll go with a three-man rotation on the wing Friday, meaning more minutes for Paul George, Lance Stephenson and Gerald Green, who returns from an ankle injury.

Sat Dec 1 201201:23Young scores 12 points with solid line
Sam Young scored 12 points on 5-of-11 shooting (including two threes) with five rebounds, four assists, and one steal in 25 minutes off the bench on Friday against the Kings.
Young's numbers aren't worth pursuing in anything but the deepest formats, but it's worth noting that his offensive game looks a lot better than in prior years. If he can do this with any consistency, and not against the defensive sieves known as the Kings, then we'll let you know.
