Mon Mar 25 201321:23Miguel Batista released
Rockies released RHP Miguel Batista.
Batista was predictably awful this spring, posting a 9.00 ERA and 2.71 WHIP over six appearances. The 42-year-old might be able to catch on with a minor league deal somewhere, but he's not going to make any sort of impact in 2013.

Sat Jan 19 201321:50Rockies ink Miguel Batista to minors deal
ESPN's Enrique Rojas reports that the Rockies have agreed to a minor league contract with Miguel Batista.
Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed. The 41-year-old right-hander will receive an invitation to major league spring training as part of the deal. With as abysmal as the Rockies pitching staff was in 2012, he stands a decent chance of making the team either as a starter or reliever.

Sat Jan 19 201316:06Miguel Batista has decided to pitch in 2013
Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that Miguel Batista has decided to pitch in 2013, and will make a decision soon on which of four interested teams to pitch for.
The 18-year veteran is coming off a disappointing 2012 season in which he posted a 4.61 ERA and 1.73 WHIP over 52 2/3 innings between the Mets and Braves. His veteran leadership could play well in a swingman role for teams searching for bullpen depth, but he won't be a factor in fantasy leagues.

Fri Jul 27 201216:44Braves ink RHP Batista to minor league deal
Braves signed RHP Miguel Batista to a minor league contract.
Batista was released by the Mets this week after posting an ugly 4.82 ERA and 34/31 K/BB ratio over 46 2/3 innings. He's not worthy of a major league roster spot at this point of his career, so he'll serve as organization depth with Triple-A Gwinnett.

Fri Jul 27 201213:25Miguel Batista signs with Braves
David Lennon of Newsday reports that Miguel Batista has signed with the Braves.
It's almost surely a minor league deal. Batista was released by the Mets after posting a 1.80 WHIP in 30 appearances with the Mets. He's unlikely to make any worthwhile appearances for Atlanta in the second half.

Sat Jul 21 201216:52Batista gives up four runs in three innings
Miguel Batista was chased for four runs over three innings in Saturday's loss to the Dodgers.
Batista was pretty terrible, allowing five hits and three walks while striking out two. The Mets went with Batista over prospect right-hander Matt Harvey for Saturday's start, but there's a non-zero chance this was his final appearance with the team. Harvey should be up with the big club soon at the very least.

Tue May 15 201212:29Batista dealing with groin injury
Miguel Batista is currently dealing with a groin injury.
Batista has had the groin issue for about five to six days, but it didn't stop him from tossing seven shutout innings in Monday's win over the Brewers. He was wearing a wrap around his left leg after the game and is scheduled to be reevaluated Tuesday, but all signs point to him making his next scheduled start Saturday against the Blue Jays.

Sat May 5 201209:49Batista to start Tuesday against Phillies
Miguel Batista is scheduled to start Tuesday against the Phillies.
He'll take Mike Pelfrey's spot in the rotation."One of the things we brought Miguel Batista in for was not just to be a bullpen guy, but if we needed a spot starter anytime he was the guy to do it,'' manager Terry Collins said. "We saw last year how effective he can be in that role, so we'll just wait to see how Chris Young comes along.''
