Fri Oct 23 201519:39James still ailing; Cavs cut four
Cleveland forward LeBron James remains idle due to a sore back and there are doubts he will be ready when the Cavaliers open the NBA season on Tuesday against the Chicago Bulls.James hasn't practiced since Oct. 13, when he received an anti-inflammatory injection in his back. But the four-time MVP remains hopeful he will be on the court for the opener despite the fact he hasn't been cleared by the team's medical staff."If everything goes right," James told reporters in reference to whether he will play. "We feel like we're progressing really well and if we can continue to do that, then I'm optimistic that I'll be able to go." Meanwhile, Cleveland trimmed its roster to 16 by waiving the following four players: forward Austin Daye, guard/forward D.J. Stephens, guard Dionte Christmas and forward Jack Cooley.
Wed Sep 23 201518:19Daye signed one-year deal with Cavaliers on Wednesday
Daye signed a one-year deal with the Cavaliers on Wednesday, Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports reports.
The former Gonzaga standout has spent time with five different teams over the last three seasons, most recently appearing in 34 combined games for the Spurs and Hawks in 2014-15. Daye has been mostly a garbage time player since leaving Detroit during the 2012-13 campaign, but he's still only 27 and intrigues teams with his size (6-11, 200) and versatility. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed, but the contract is not likely to be fully guaranteed.
Thu Jul 9 201511:37Daye waived by Hawks on Thursday
Daye was waived by the Hawks on Thursday, Chris Vivlamore of The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.
This is likely a move for the Hawks to clear up cap space for the trade with the Spurs involving Tiago Splitter, as Daye's deal was non-guaranteed. Daye is versatile and has good length for someone playing on the wing, but the 27-year-old is limited in what he can do offensively. He does have a solid outside stroke, however, as he has shot 35 percent from behind the arc for his career. He will have to clear waivers before he can sign with the team of his choice.
Thu Jun 18 201511:35Daye waived by Spurs in December, and acquired by Hawks in March
Daye was waived by the Spurs in December, and acquired by the Hawks in March. He averaged 3.3 points, 0.6 three-pointers, 1.8 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.3 blocks, and 0.5 steals in 10 minutes per game through 8 games with the Hawks in 2014-15.
The 27-year-old, who finished his sixth season in the NBA, is under team control through 2015-16. After being waived by the Spurs in December, Daye played 10 games in the NBA D-League where he averaged 16.0 points, 1.3 three-pointers, 7.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.1 blocks, and 0.8 steals in 28 minutes per game through 10 games. Acquired by the Hawks in March, Daye completed two consecutive 10-Day contracts before being signed for the remainder of the season in April. Daye was used minimally in Atlanta, scoring only 26 total points with the Hawks in 2014-15. Should the Hawks re-sign him, Daye will most likely be used as a minor contributor off the bench in case of injury or blowout.

Daye has yet to make an appearance through the first five games of Atlanta's series against Brooklyn.
Daye is one of the last options off the bench for Atlanta and isn't expected to be given any meaningful minutes outside of garbage time. With that, there are far better options for postseason formats than the journeyman from Gonzaga.
Fri Apr 3 201513:42Daye will sign with Hawks for remainder of season
Daye will sign with the Hawks for the remainder of the season, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Daye's second 10-day deal is set to expire Saturday, at which point the team will formally announce the move. The journeyman Gonzaga product has bounced around since being drafted 15th overall by Detroit in 2009, and he's appeared in five games for Atlanta since coming on board midway through March.
Tue Mar 24 201513:49Daye will sign second 10-day contract with Hawks on Wednesday
Daye will sign a second 10-day contract with the Hawks on Wednesday, the Atlanta Journal Constitution's Chris Vivlamore reports.
As expected, Daye will stick with the Hawks for at least a few more games. He's logged just nine total minutes in the team's five games since he signed the first contract.
Tue Mar 24 201511:01Daye will likely get another 10-day contract
Daye will likely get another 10-day contract, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.
Daye has played in two out of a possible five games since joining the Hawks, logging just three and six minutes in those appearances. He's only gotten work in garbage time thus far, but the Hawks figure to give minutes to some non-rotation guys over the final few weeks of the season.

Daye saw his first minutes in a Hawk uniform Wednesday and finished with three points, two rebounds, and an assist in six minutes.
Daye finally got on the floor after two DNP's with the Hawks as they were getting routed by the Warriors on Wednesday. He will likely only get into games in these types of situations or if a glut of injuries sweeps through the Atlanta front court.
Sat Mar 14 201511:46Daye will sign 10-day contract with Hawks on Saturday
Daye will sign a 10-day contract with the Hawks on Saturday, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Daye last appeared with the Spurs averaging 4.0 points per game in 26 contests before being waived in January. He averaged just over 10 minutes a game in that span, and likely won't see much more playing time than that in Atlanta.

Daye was claimed off waivers by the Erie BayHawks, the D-League affiliate of the Orlando Magic.
Daye spent the season with the San Antonio Spurs before they waived him January 17th. With 15 players already on the roster, the Magic would need to create space if they wanted to call him up. Even if a spot opens up via trade or waivers, their D-League All-Star Seth Curry would likely garner the first nod.
Sat Jan 17 201512:16Austin Daye: Waived By Spurs
Daye will be waived by the Spurs, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports.
Daye has been inserted into 26 games for the Spurs this season but is only averaging 10.3 minutes per contest. He's a prime candidate to land on another NBA team before the season is over, although he may have to earn his way by starting with a 10-day contract first. Regardless, it would be surprising if he worked his way into fantasy prominence this year.

Daye struggled as a starter Tuesday against Washington, scoring just five points (2-6 FG, 1-3 3Pt) to go with two rebounds in just seven minutes of action.
Daye came crashing back to earth Tuesday with a brutal stat-line. He was coming off of a big game on Saturday where he had 22 points in 36 minutes, but was unable to sustain that pace. His playing time averages are a red flag and he's too inconsistent to be counted on in daily or standard leagues.

Daye made the start Saturday, with Marco Belinelli (groin) and Manu Ginobili (back) out, scoring 22 points (8-13 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT) with 10 rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 36 minutes.
It's safe to call this performance one out of the box. Daye did it once last season and the stars aligned for him to have a big performance again Saturday, but this is not the type of performance that makes you think that Daye will have prolonged value. He hadn't even gotten into a game for the last four tilts and his fantasy value is limited, to be kind.

Daye had 13 points (4-11 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and 11 rebounds in 26 minutes in the win over Minnesota on Friday.
Daye set season standards in points, rebounds, assists (three), and minutes. The Spurs had a big second half league, so Daye received extra minutes. The former Gonazaga Bulldog is hitting just 27.8 percent of his field goals.

Daye started Friday's game against the Suns and played some valuable minutes in the fourth quarter.
Daye started at power forward, while Tim Duncan slid over to center. However, the experiment hindered the Spurs' offense. Daye scored just six points (2-7 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 0-0 FT) in 19 minutes. Aron Baynes, Jeff Ayres and Boris Diaw all got minutes off the bench as well. Owners of any of those players, including Daye, should continue to monitor the minutes distribution.
Mon Jun 30 201419:03Spurs not expected to waive Daye
The Spurs are not expected to waive forward Austin Daye.
Daye has gotten way more pub than his production deserves, but theoretically sticking around San Antonio is a good thing for his long-term outlook. He's still way off the fantasy radar.

Sat Apr 12 201401:52Austin Daye starts on Friday night
Austin Daye started for Tim Duncan on Friday night and had two points, one rebound, one assist, two steals and one block in 14 minutes.
Coach Gregg Popovich has transformed a lot of players, but he couldn't get it done with Daye. He has a lot of potential to put up big lines, but he's rarely been able to come through for fantasy owners since his days with the Pistons. He can be ignored in all leagues.

Fri Apr 11 201420:00Austin Daye will start in place of Tim Duncan
Austin Daye will start in place of Tim Duncan on Friday night vs. the Suns.
It makes sense because Channing Frye is not exactly an imposing threat in the paint, so this isn't really coach Gregg Popovich being a mad scientist. Daye has been quiet all season with the exception of a big game vs. Philly, so it would take a big slice of crazy to start him in fantasy leagues.

Mon Apr 7 201409:27Austin Daye returns from strep throat Sunday
Austin Daye returned from both a lat strain and strep throat in Sunday's win vs. the Grizzlies, scoring two points in six minutes off the bench.
Daye made 1-of-6 shots and he played the fewest minutes of the 13 Spurs who were in Gregg Popovich's rotation. The 6'11" small forward has had a pair of nice games since being traded to San Antonio but he shouldn't be owned in any fantasy leagues.
